History of the department

The Department of Mathematical Methods and Operations Research in Economics is the leading department of KRSU in the field of economic and mathematical modeling. Known among employers in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Russia as the department «EMM». And graduates of the department are like «EMM people».

The Department of EMM was founded in 1997 on the basis of an agreement between the State Property Fund of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University on the training of qualified specialists in the field of economic and mathematical modeling.

In 1997, the first enrollment of students in the specialty "Mathematical Methods in Economics" was carried out, and in 2002 the first graduation of specialists took place.

Since 2011, the department has been training bachelors in the field of «Economics», training profile "Mathematical methods in economics". The first graduation of bachelors took place in 2015.

From 2015 to 2021, masters were trained in the program «Applied Economic Analysis» within the framework of the direction «Economics».

From the founding of the department until 2023, the permanent head of the department was Doctor of Economic Sciences Irina Viktorovna Lukashova, a talented teacher, brilliant scientist, and recognized expert. Under her leadership, the department became a recognizable brand both in the Kyrgyz Republic and in the near and far abroad. By decision of the Academic Council of the KRSU, by order of the rector, the EMM department was named after I.V. Lukashova.

Brief information about the activities of the department

Currently, the department is implementing the main professional educational program for training bachelors in the direction «Economics» profile «Mathematical methods in economics» with a training period of 4 years.

Based on the results of his studies at the department, a bachelor of profile «Mathematical methods in economics» is prepared to conduct analytical and research work at the micro, macro and regional levels of economics, for which he owns:

  • fundamentals of macro and microeconomics;
  • methodology and methods of economic and mathematical modeling;
  • methods for analyzing economic processes based on the use of econometric models;
  • practical skills and abilities to build models and obtain solutions on models using a personal computer;
  • methodology and methodology for economic and mathematical modeling of macroeconomic systems;
  • tools for microeconomic analysis of market processes and structures.

Educational and methodological work

The teaching staff of the department performs extensive educational and methodological work, including the preparation of textbooks and teaching aids. For each discipline taught at the department, work programs have been developed and electronic presentations for lectures have been created.

Lectures are given using multimedia equipment. To assess students' knowledge in all courses taught by teachers of the department, a computer test system for knowledge control developed at the department by students and teachers is used.
