A brief history of the department

The department was formed by order №324 dated July 24, 2009 of the rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University V.I. Nifadiev.

The functioning of the modern neurological school in the Kyrgyz Republic is inextricably linked with the activities of its founders, professors G.D. Leshchenko, B.S. Beilina, A.F. Usmanova. Currently, the school is headed by Academician of the National Academy of Sciences A.M. Murzaliev, who is a student of the outstanding Soviet neurologist Prof. M.Yu. Rappaport, who developed republican neurology in several directions: clinical and physiological research, neuroinfections, medical genetics, autoimmune problems in neurology. This also includes basic research in the field of vertebrology and demyelinating diseases. At one time, within the framework of the «Healthy Nation» project, long-term research in the field of vascular neurology and the creation of a brain stroke registry began.

The continuity and interdisciplinary approach to research at present in the department is determined by disorders of autonomic regulation and adaptive mechanisms associated with both acute and chronic cerebrovascular pathology, traumatic brain injury, degenerative diseases, epilepsy, myasthenia gravis and, accordingly, treatment issues.

The purpose of creating the Department of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Medical Genetics is to train highly qualified specialists and further scientific research in the field of neurology and neurosurgery.
