Library

The library of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was founded simultaneously with the formation of the university in 1993. Today the library is an integral part of the university’s information system, meets modern requirements and is formed in accordance with its purpose. The library's collection amounts to more than 200 thousand documents and is located in the main building of the university and 6 specialized reading rooms of educational buildings. The Russian Federation, under programs in support of integration processes in the field of education in the Commonwealth of Independent States, international organizations and foundations, Russian publishing houses, as well as individuals provide great assistance in replenishing the library’s collection.

Library structure:

  • Department of literature acquisition and processing;
  • Book Preservation and Reader Services Department;
  • Reference, bibliographic and information work department;
  • Foreign Literature Sector;
  • Library Process Automation Department;
  • Electronic Resources Department (Electronic Library Hall).

Library staff - 18 people.

Priority areas of work:

  • high-quality endowment of the fund;
  • information support for the educational process and scientific research;
  • use of computer technology in meeting the information needs of library users.

The library is actively mastering and introducing modern information technologies into its work. Since 2002, the library has installed an automated information and library system «IRBIS», organized automated workstations for library staff, created a local library network with Internet access, automated processing of all types of documents entering the library, created an electronic catalog, and developed a library website http://lib.krsu.kg.

Since 2005, the Electronic Library Hall has been operating.

The e-library is formed in the following areas:

  • creating a collection of full-text textbooks on disciplines taught at the university;
  • creating a full-text collection of university staff’s works;
  • subscribe to full-text remote access databases;
  • creation of a full-text collection of articles from the KRSU Bulletin.

Library users have access to domestic and foreign electronic information resources and databases of the world's leading companies.

The KRSU Library is a member of the International Association of Users and Developers of Electronic Libraries and New Information Technologies (EBNIT), the Library and Information Consortium of Kyrgyzstan (BIC), as well as the Association of Electronic Libraries of the Kyrgyz Republic (AEB KR). Library staff takes an active part in international and national conferences and events, as well as in various projects aimed at improving information and library services.
