University

The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was opened in 1993 in accordance with the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation and on the basis of the Agreement between the Governments of friendly countries.

The symbolic key to the university was presented to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of KRSU, Academician N.P. Laverov, by the President of Russia Boris Nikolaevich Yeltsin. Since then, the name of the first President of Russia has been inextricably linked with the activities of the first interstate educational institution in the system of higher professional education. In October 1995, B.N. Yeltsin was the first to be awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of KRSU.

During his visits to Kyrgyzstan, B.N. Yeltsin invariably paid attention to KRSU. He was the first to award personalized scholarships to the best students of the university, helped develop humanitarian cooperation, and contributed to the promotion of educational, social and cultural projects KRSU.

Created in 2000, the B.N. Yeltsin Foundation pays special attention to the most promising students of KRSU (annual scholarship program), pays for Internet resources, provides assistance in purchasing high-tech equipment, holding various competitions and olympiads in support of the Russian language and Russian-language education among students of secondary schools and universities of the republic.

The B.N. Yeltsin Foundation took part in the creation of the Russian Language Center in Kyrgyzstan, which promotes active integration into a single educational and cultural space with Russia.

In 2004, in recognition of the outstanding services of Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin in the development of Kyrgyz-Russian relations and his decisive contribution to the founding of KRSU, the university was named after the First President of Russia.

University today

The university is a modern, dynamically developing scientific and educational complex, including all levels of vocational education, a system of additional education, highly professional personnel, a developed scientific and innovative infrastructure based on interaction with industry and academic science, with the business community, state authorities and local governments in the interests of the development of the state and society.

Among the professors and staff are – laureates of state awards of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic, laureates of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz Republic, honored workers of education, culture, science and technology of the Kyrgyz Republic, excellent students of education of the Kyrgyz Republic, holders of the title «Honorary Professor of KRSU», awarded the KRSU medal «For services to the university».

Every year, university staff and students are sent for internships and training to countries near and far abroad (England, Germany, Italy, Poland, USA, etc.). Students from Belarus, Israel, India, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, South Korea and other countries study at KRSU. Teachers from Germany, China, Poland, France, Switzerland, Japan, etc. are invited to give lectures at the university.

For their enormous contribution to strengthening peace and friendly ties between peoples, for the development of science, education and spirituality, by decision of the academic council, 45 famous scientists, political and public figures from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, South Korea and Japan became Honorary Doctors of KRSU.

In 2017, in the international ranking of universities (according to Webometrics Ranking of World Universities), KRSU took first place among universities in Kyrgyzstan.
