Scientific research
PhD doctoral research work includes
- scientific — research activities;
- active participation in scientific conferences and seminars;
- scientific publications;
- foreign research internship (practice);
- preparation and writing of a PhD dissertation.
The research work of PhD students is organized by the assigned department of the Ministry of Education and Science of the KRSU.
PhD students are approved for the topics of PhD dissertations in specialties within the framework of scientific research programs carried out by assigned departments.
The orders approving the scientific supervisors and the topics of doctoral theses are made in agreement with the heads of the PhD (profiles) programmes. Scientific supervisors and topics of doctoral dissertations are reviewed and approved by the NTS KRSU. Scientific supervisors participate in the development and approval of individual work plans of a PhD student, direct their educational and research work and are responsible for the timely, high-quality performance by PhD students of all types of work provided for in the individual work plan. PhD doctoral researchers evaluate the doctoral student's training at least twice a year, make adjustments to his individual work plan if necessary, and bring relevant information to the attention of the Basic Doctoral Center.
During the first semester of study, a PhD student, together with scientific supervisors, develops and approves individual work plans, which include the following sections:
- an individual PhD work plan;
- PhD research;
- PhD thesis topic with rationale and structure;
- completion plan for PhD publications and dissertations;
- curriculum for the entire period of study;
- PhD doctoral student plan for 1 year of study;
- PhD 2-year plan;
- PhD 3-year plan;
- final certification;
- discussion and recommendation for defending a PhD dissertation for the qualification of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)/Doctor in profile.
The doctoral student's research work in the PhD program/profile should:
- comply with the main problems of the specialty in which the doctoral dissertation is being defended;
- be up-to-date, contain scientific novelty and practical significance;
- be based on current theoretical, methodological and technological advances in science and practice;
- based on modern methods of data processing and interpretation using computer technology;
- perform using modern scientific research methods;
- run with advanced information technology;
- contain research (methodological, practical) sections on the main protected provisions.
The results of scientific research work at the end of each period of their completion are documented by the PhD student in the form of a short report.
Scientific internship
Foreign research internship (practice) is an important part of the educational process of PhD/profile doctoral studies. In the process of foreign research internship (practice), the knowledge of PhD students acquired during theoretical training is specified and consolidated. A foreign research internship (practice) for a PhD student is carried out with the aim of studying the latest theoretical, methodological and technological achievements of domestic and foreign science, as well as consolidating practical skills in scientific and professional activities, and applying modern methods of scientific research in dissertation research.
The content of a foreign research internship (practice) is determined by the topic of the PhD dissertation. Duration of a foreign research internship (practice) — at least two weeks. It is allowed to undergo a research internship using distance learning technologies.
A PhD student who has fully completed the theoretical education curriculum is allowed to participate in a foreign research internship (practice).
Forms of control over a foreign research internship (practice) are a diary of a foreign research internship (practice) and a report that characterize the level of professional preparedness of a PhD student.
At the end of the foreign research internship (practice), the doctoral student submits a diary and report in the approved form.
Receiving an unsatisfied grade or not providing documentation entails repeated completion of a foreign research internship (practice), leaving for a repeat course or expulsion. The terms and conditions for re-entering a research internship are established in each individual case by the Center for Basic Doctoral Studies PhD/by profile.
