The Institute of Russian Language of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (IRY KRSU) was created by the decision of the Academic Council KRSU on February 25, 2020 as a platform for the implementation of scientific, methodological, information-analytical and cultural-educational activities aimed at preserving and strengthening the position of the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan as a leading tool of scientific, educational and communication spaces and also strengthening its role in establishing and deepening integration processes between the countries of the post-Soviet space.

General information
In the development strategy of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after. first President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin (hereinafter – KRSU), which has established itself as the flagship of the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan, the Russian language occupies a special place. The main mission of the university, according to a number of documents, is «the development of the Russian language and culture, the promotion of Russian-language education and integration processes in the field of education and science, the creation of a linguistic and cultural environment conducive to the mutual enrichment of cultures, languages, and the preservation of historical and national traditions of the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Russia».
Meanwhile, modern integration processes in the CIS and the Customs Union, where the Russian language is the most important tool for their communication support, determine the leading role of KRSU named after. B.N. Yeltsin in strengthening the position of the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan. This lofty mission is provided for in the founding document –University Development Strategy 2019– 2024, which emphasizes the role of KRSU as a conductor of the Russian language and Russian culture in Central Asia.
The turning point in achieving the goal of preserving and strengthening the position of the Russian language and culture in Kyrgyzstan was the decision of the Academic Council of KRSU dated February 25, 2020 on the creation of the Institute of the Russian Language KRSU (hereinafter referred to as – IRA KRSU). In February 2022, the IRYA KRSU was named after the famous Kyrgyz linguist, first dean of the Faculty of Humanities of KRSU, Doctor of Philology, Professor Abdykadyr Orusbaevich Orusbaev by the decision of the Academic Council KRSU.
Mission of the IRA KRSU: ensuring the leadership of KRSU as the leading university in Central Asia in preserving and strengthening the position of the Russian language, promoting it as a leading tool in the scientific, educational and communication spaces of Kyrgyzstan and other countries of this region, strengthening the role of the Russian language in establishing and deepening integration processes between the countries of the post-Soviet space through the creation and implementation of a scientific, methodological and information and analytical platform for promoting the Russian language culture and education in Russian.
Objectives of the IRY KRSU:
- conducting scientific research on the problems of functioning of the Russian language in bilingualism;
- building predictive scenarios for the promotion and development of the Russian language, culture and education in Russian in the Central Asian region;
- carrying out various activities aimed at cultivating the Russian language and Russian culture in the public and individual consciousness of citizens of Kyrgyzstan;
- strengthening the motivation of young people to study the Russian language and master the values of Russian culture;
- promoting the idea of the value and quality of education in Russian for the successful formation of human capital;
- systematic generalization and improvement of the methodology, theory and practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language in the states of Central Asia, taking into account the national-regional component;
- providing systematic scientific and methodological support for the processes of teaching the Russian language in schools and universities of the Kyrgyz Republic;
- organization of advanced training for teachers of Russian language and literature of the Kyrgyz Republic;
- development of courses in Russian as a foreign language, which are one of the tools for creating a positive image of the Russian language and Russian culture in the perception of students from foreign countries;
- conducting cultural, commemorative and scientific events aimed at preserving intercultural dialogue, creating a positive image of Russia, popularizing and supporting the study of Russian culture and language;
- preparation and publication of scientific works devoted to current issues of the functioning of the Russian language in Central Asia;
- development of an information and analytical journal «Russian word in Kyrgyzstan» as a platform for modern scientific communication on the functioning of the Russian language in Central Asia.
Priority areas of work of the Russian Language Institute KRSU
- Conducting scientific research on the problems of functioning of the Russian language in the conditions of bilingualism and constructing forecast scenarios for the promotion and development of the Russian language, culture and education in Russian in the Central Asian region.
- Promoting the idea of the value and quality of education in Russian for the successful formation of human capital.
- Systematic generalization and improvement of the methodology, theory and practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language in the states of Central Asia, taking into account the national-regional component.
- Providing systematic scientific and methodological support for the processes of teaching the Russian language in schools and universities of Kyrgyzstan.
- Organization of advanced training for teachers of Russian language and literature.
