On March 27, the First Forum of University Rectors of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation was held in Bishkek «Development of science and education – investments in the future».
Historical ties and long-term cooperation between universities in Kyrgyzstan and Russia have created serious preconditions for cooperation at a new level. Currently, more than 15 thousand citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic are studying at Russian universities, of which about 7 thousand are funded by the federal budget. In turn, more than one and a half thousand citizens of the Russian Federation are currently studying in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The forum was attended by heads of more than 70 higher educational institutions of the two countries.
The delegation of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was headed by the rector, academician Vladimir Ivanovich Nifadiev. As part of the forum, cooperation agreements were signed between KRSU and a number of universities in the Russian Federation, including with the Moscow Pedagogical State University, with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, with Altai State University, Voronezh State University and the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University.
One of the key points of the forum was the approval by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov and the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulmira Kudaiberdieva of a new edition of the Charter of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
As the heads of departments noted during the press conference, the new edition of the charter will improve the mechanisms of interaction between ministries in university management, improve the quality of educational services provided, and intensify academic mobility.
Later, Mikhail Kotyukov personally visited the chief building KRSU, where a meeting with the rector took place.
The work of the forum was divided into 3 sessions: «Russian language as the basis for scientific and educational integration of Russia and Kyrgyzstan», «Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation in the field of humanities and natural sciences» and «New approaches to personnel training in the context of economic modernization».
During the final plenary session, in a solemn atmosphere, an agreement was signed on cooperation in the field of education, science, academic exchange, holding joint scientific and practical conferences, exchanging publications, developing and implementing joint educational programs between the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University and Moscow State University named after Lomonosov.
