«And the dawns here are quiet» in Jalal-Abad: full house, tears and applause
The Jalal-Abad Regional Kyrgyz Drama Theater named after Barpa hosted a triumphant screening of the play "The Dawns Here Are Quiet" based on the story by Boris Vasiliev. The production, dedicated to the feat of Soviet anti-aircraft gunners during the Great Patriotic War, caused an unprecedented stir among the audience.
The hall, designed for 400 seats, could hardly accommodate everyone who wanted to see the touching story. More than 500 people, including schoolchildren from Mailuu-Suu and representatives of the Jalal-Abad regional branch of the Assembly of the People of Kyrgyzstan, stood in the aisles and along the walls to become part of this cultural event.
The head of the association «Slavic Diaspora» Viktor Malyuzhenko noted the importance of preserving historical memory and presented an anniversary medal to the head of the department for extracurricular activities of KRSU Galina Ketova for her contribution to cultural exchange and patriotic education.
The head of the branch of the Assembly of the People of Kyrgyzstan, Kanybek Tilekeev, emphasized the importance of such events for strengthening interethnic dialogue.
As part of the event, spectators also took part in a thematic quiz based on materials from the exhibition of Leonid Sumarokov, director of the Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage KRSU.
The performance "The Dawns Here Are Quiet" ended with a long ovation. The artists received flowers and words of gratitude from the guests.
