Academic mobility: the experience of a student KRSU at MGIMO

KRSU student Ulanova Rakhat shared her experience of studying in the double degree program at MGIMO.«My name is Ulanova Rakhat. Now I am a second-year master’s student at EUI MGIMO in a double degree program in the field of “International Relations”», — says Rakhat.According to her, the opportunity to continue studying at one of the leading universities in the field of international relations appeared thanks to KRSU.«In July 2024, we were invited to the rector, where we were offered a double degree program with MGIMO and told in detail about the conditions of study. After submitting the documents, it was necessary to pass an entrance exam in a foreign language and undergo an oral interview with representatives of MGIMO. As a result, I entered and began training».Studying, according to the student, requires high involvement and serious preparation.«The training here is very intensive: many analytical tasks, presentations, work with documents from international organizations. To get good grades, you really have to try. During this time, my professional knowledge has expanded significantly —we deeply study integration processes, institutions of international law, and regional security issues».Rahat notes a special teaching format:«Teachers connect the theory with real international events and give examples from practice. Many of them are — current specialists: employees of the Russian Foreign Ministry, experts working with the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, representatives of analytical centers. This creates a feeling of inclusion in real processes».She considers the international learning environment to be equally important:«I really like the atmosphere. Every day you feel development and involvement in global topics. There was an opportunity to communicate with students from different countries, broaden their horizons and professional connections».Separately, the student emphasized the role of the university in the implementation of the program:«KRSU helped with paperwork, process coordination and continues to support us throughout our training».Academic mobility and dual degree programs open up new educational and professional horizons for KRSU students, allowing them to gain international experience and develop competitive competencies in their chosen field.
