«Every heart beat like Brest»: KRSU handed over the book as part of the «Victory Relay along the state borders of the CIS»
A solemn ceremony was held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University as part of the Victory Relay along the state borders of the CIS, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. During the event, a book was handed over «Every heart beat like Brest!», authored by the director of the Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage KRSU, Leonid Sumarokov.
The book is based on the memories of participants in border battles on the western border of the USSR on the day of the attack by Nazi Germany. Particular attention is paid to the feat of the Kyrgyzstanis in the defense of the Brest Fortress and the role of the Kyrgyz border district during the war.
As part of the event, 120 copies of the book were transferred to the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Chairman of the veteran organization of the border service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic Cholponbek Burzhuev noted the importance of preserving the memory of the feat of his ancestors and emphasized that the border guards, who were the first to take the blow of the Nazis, played a key role in achieving victory:
«The feat of our grandfathers must be kept in our hearts. First the border guards took the fascist blow. Despite the unequal strength and bloody battles, none of the attacked outposts withdrew without orders. It was the border guards who laid the first successes in the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War».
Those gathered also heard poems and songs of the war years, which created an atmosphere of patriotism and respect for our feat compatriots.
The event was attended by students, teachers, veteran border guards and representatives of law enforcement agencies. KRSU is confident that preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War — is the basis of patriotic education future generations.
