Moving forward: a presentation of the book «Russian language in Kyrgyzstan: milestones of the past» took place at KRSU
On May 31, in the main building of KRSU, a presentation of a documentary monograph «Russian language in Kyrgyzstan: milestones of the past» authored by Dr. Historical Sciences, Deputy Director of the Institute of Russian Language named after. A. Orusbaev Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University Olga Sumarokova.
It is noteworthy that the guests and participants of the event wanted to get acquainted with the new edition even before the meeting with the author, since connoisseurs of science know: her works are distinguished by their content, relevance, interesting design and level of printing and were successfully presented at the international book fair in Russia.
The current edition is devoted to the history of the Russian language and education in Russian on the territory of modern Kyrgyzstan in the pre-revolutionary period.
The monograph tells what contribution the Russian intelligentsia made to the formation of Russian-Kyrgyz bilingualism. The author has studied the potential of the Russian language as a tool for describing and developing the Kyrgyz language.
A new research approach to the study of language processes applied in the work is a step towards rethinking the prevailing ideas in Russian and national historiographies about methods of positioning the Russian language in the region and reassessing its prospects in the sovereign Central Asian republics.
The publication is based on documentary materials, many of which are published for the first time. The book is part of the author's series of books by Leonid and Olga Sumarokov «Eurasians – creators» («Chingiz Aitmatov – Man Universe», «Eurasian Chronicles of N. Przhevalsky», «K. Yudakhin. Uniting Central Asia with the word», «E. Polivanov. An unfinished linguistic symphony ») and dedicated to the Year of the Russian Language declared in the CIS and the 30th anniversary of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
According to moderator, Vice-Rector for Information and Public Relations of KRSU L. Sumarokov, all five books are dedicated to leading scientists of Central Asia who left a mark on the hearts of Kyrgyzstanis, and they did it with the help of the Russian language. According to the vice-rector, it is important to understand how to promote the Russian language so that it is effective. Without knowledge of historical experience this is impossible.
The scientific editor of the publication – Rector of KRSU, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic V. Nifadiev congratulated the author on his creative success. He emphasized that this monograph – this is a unique publication, and also admired the performance of the young scientist: over the course of a year, O. Sumarokova reworked many historical documents and «was able to write such a wonderful, relevant monograph with a volume of 368 pages». It is important and necessary, according to the rector of KRSU, to promote the Russian language in practice.
In her response, O. Sumarokova thanked all the guests and participants of the event: «Promotion of the Russian language in Central Asia <TAG1> the issue is politicized. The work used two approaches: multifactorial and situational». The monograph talks about the place of the Russian language in Central Asia and what difficulties the pioneers encountered. «History repeats itself, so in order not to make mistakes in the future, you need to know and take into account the experience of the past. This is what the new publication is dedicated to», – the author emphasized.
Participants of the event, among whom were the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Kyrgyz Republic A. Zulkharneev, the head of the Russian language department of the Russian State University for the Humanities I. Sharonov, professor, editor-in-chief of the magazine «Russian language and literature in Kyrgyzstan» G. Soronkulov, professor of the Department of General and Russian Linguistics M. Milovanova, Professor of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education «State Institute of Russian Language named after A. Pushkin» N. Rogoznaya, and others, noted the terminological accuracy of the author and the fact that many documents presented in the monograph were published for the first time. The speakers drew attention to the fact that Doctor of Historical Sciences O. Sumarokova is a philologist by first education, this allows us to correctly place emphasis on historical facts in the development of the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan. According to I. Sharonova, the uniqueness of the book – support with documents for those events that were described in the scientific work; This approach is very convincing and helps to understand the truth without being subject to political views.
