Another life of the Great Epic

The KRSU Publishing House has completed work on the book «Manas. Kyrgyz heroic epic». The new edition is the first Russian translation of the epic narrative in the Manaschi version of Zhusup Mamai. There is an opinion that it is in the narrative of this storyteller that the most complete folk tale is presented, not edited to suit the ideological demands of different formations.

Zhusup Mamai managed to bring to this day 500,000 lines of oral poetic epic. In a literary translation into Russian made in the book «Manas. Kyrgyz Heroic Epic» People's poet Svetlana Suslova, 80,500 lines presented.

According to the executive editor of the publication, People's Poet of the Kyrgyz Republic, Doctor of Philology Vyacheslav Shapovalov, ««Epic «Manas», which came out from under the wing of this educator, will sound in Russian as if it was born from the lips of the collective author of his epic – Kyrgyz people. This will be another life of the great epic!».

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic recommended the book as a teaching aid for students of higher educational institutions.
