The head of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev held a meeting with the heads of universities in Kyrgyzstan, calling for the eradication of corruption in the field of education
A meeting was held in Bishkek between the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) Kamchybek Tashiev and the heads of higher educational institutions of the country. In his speech, he emphasized the need to actively fight corruption, which continues to be one of the main problems of the educational system.
Kamchybek Tashiev noted that an analysis of criminal cases in progress indicates widespread corruption in universities. The most vulnerable areas are licensing and accreditation of educational institutions, student admission, educational and financial activities, government procurement, as well as personnel policy.
«This is not a complete list of corruption zones and risks. Unfortunately, some unscrupulous teachers and university leaders violate academic integrity and themselves contribute to the spread of corruption», — Tashiev emphasized.
He also said that, within the framework of the provisions of the recently adopted Law «On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts in the Field of Anti-Corruption», the State Committee for National Security plans to reduce the level of corruption in the country to 5-10% in 2025-2026.
«At the moment the figure is 30-40%, while in previous years it reached a terrifying 70-80%», — said the head of the State Committee for National Security.
The event was attended by acting of the rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University Sergei Volkov. He supported initiatives aimed at increasing transparency and improving academic integrity in universities.
The Chairman of the State Committee for National Security called on representatives of the educational system to make joint efforts in the fight against corruption in order to completely eradicate this phenomenon in the future.
