Competition Results «Dictionary – this is the Universe in alphabetical order. This is a book of books»
Institute of Russian Language named after. A. O. Orusbaev Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after. B. N. Yeltsin held a competition from February 20 to April 15, 2025 «Dictionary – this is the Universe in alphabetical order. This is a book of books». Event – to mark the 125th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding linguist Sergei Ivanovich Ozhegov (1900-1964).
The competition is aimed at developing the professional competencies of teachers in the field of developing lexicographic skills of students, as well as popularizing work with the dictionary as an important tool for learning the Russian language. Teachers of Russian language and literature from secondary schools of the Kyrgyz Republic with Russian, Kyrgyz, Uzbek languages of instruction (grades 5 – 11) took part.
In accordance with the conditions of the competition, articles were accepted describing the author’s methodological developments of the lesson, dedicated to working with a dictionary, with a detailed description of the lesson, a theory confirming relevance, novelty, practical significance, with convincing conclusions, analysis of emerging difficulties and recommendations for overcoming them.
The articles were accompanied by a video fragment of the lesson demonstrating the application of the author’s methodology in practice. The video was recorded in conditions of the real educational process with schoolchildren.
Based on the results of the competition, three prizes were determined.
I place – Moldalieva Zhyldyz Kutbidinovna, teacher of Russian language and literature Vasilievskaya secondary school №2 (Chui region, Alamudun district, village. Grape).
The article by Zh.K. Moldalieva was devoted to the methodology of working with a dictionary in Russian language lessons in 5 classes with the Kyrgyz language of instruction. The purpose of the lesson is – development of students' lexical competence through the use of dictionaries. Recommendations were given to improve the methodology for working with the dictionary. The article also pays attention to the formation of students’ skills in independent work with lexical resources, which is especially important in the context of multilingual education.
The video fragment of the lesson records the use of interactive methods that contribute to the active involvement of students in the learning process.
II place – Topchubek kyzy Nurgul, teacher of Russian language and literature
secondary school №67 (g. Bishkek).
The article Topchubek kyzy Nurgul presented dictionary work techniques intended for 7th grade schoolchildren with the Kyrgyz language of instruction. The article described three ways to work with new words: (1) working on the application «Ozhegov Explanatory Dictionary»; 2) work according to the table «Distribution of words by parts of speech»; 3) dictionary work «Quick quiz». The video fragment demonstrates three approaches and the active involvement of students in work.
III place <TAG1> Dzhunsaeva Aigul Valievna, teacher of Russian language and literature, secondary school named after. K. Zhantosheva (Issyk – Kul region, Ak-Suu district, village. Tepke).
The article emphasizes the importance of competent speech and the role of the Russian language teacher in the formation of the linguistic culture of students. The main task of teachers is — to teach schoolchildren not only to express their thoughts correctly, but also to independently work with dictionaries – a valuable source of knowledge. It is noted that training should be systematic, using various methods of working with vocabulary, including phrases, phraseological units and words in a figurative sense. Success largely depends on the teacher, his passion and ability to interest students. The video fragment of the lesson reflected the game moments of working with the dictionary.
