Kamchybek Tashiev headed the Board of Trustees of KRSU

A meeting of the board of trustees was held today at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU), at which significant decisions were made that determine the further development strategy of the university. The key event was the election of the head of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kamchybek Tashiev, as chairman of the council. Artem Novikov, Chairman of the Board of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, was appointed his deputy.

«We are committed to developing KRSU not only in Bishkek, but also in the regions of Kyrgyzstan. The university should become a driver of educational and scientific progress throughout the country», – Tashiev told reporters after the meeting, expressing enthusiasm for the new role.

Priority areas and solutions

The Board of Trustees approved a number of strategic initiatives aimed at transforming KRSU into the leading scientific and educational platform in Central Asia. Key solutions include:

• Development strategy until 2040, presented by acting rector Sergei Volkov. The document focuses on engineering, technical, biomedical and socio-humanitarian clusters, digitalization, the launch of new educational programs and the expansion of international cooperation.
• Construction of a new campus. 30 hectares of land near the state residence «Ala-Archa» have been allocated for the project.The construction of the new campus of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was the result of a joint initiative between Russia and Kyrgyzstan On 23 June 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a proposal for a modern university complex, stressing the strategic importance of the project for educational cooperation between the two countries.

  The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic actively supports the implementation of this project. President Sadyr Japarov granted the university a special status, which indicates a high level of government support

• Creation of the KRSU Endowment Fund (endowment fund). The fund will attract extrabudgetary funds from graduates, partners and businesses to support educational, scientific and infrastructure projects.

Council composition and business support

The head of the Russian Presidential Administration for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Igor Maslov, emphasized the unique status of KRSU, which is «under the patronage of two presidents». According to him, the board of trustees unites government officials, leading universities and businesses of the two countries, including Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (curator of KRSU), as well as companies «Rosatom», «Gazprom», «Aeroflot», «Rostec» and Wildberries.

«The appointment of Kamchybek Tashiev as chairman of the council guarantees prompt decision-making without bureaucratic barriers. The participation of large companies will increase scholarships and grants for students», – Maslov noted.

Development prospects

The strategy until 2040 provides for the modernization of infrastructure, strengthening scientific potential and strengthening the international position of KRSU. The new campus will become a center of educational and scientific innovation, and the endowment fund will ensure the financial stability of the university. Why was the KRSU Board of Trustees created?

The purpose of the council is to assist in solving pressing problems of the development of KRSU in the best traditions of classical universities and to form it as a center for training highly qualified specialists capable of solving problems of a fundamental and applied nature at the level of modern requirements, expert and consulting activities, introducing the latest information and pedagogical technologies, ensuring competitiveness in the domestic and international markets of educational and scientific and applied services.

The PS may include representatives of state, federal and local executive authorities of business, financial and scientific circles, the media, public associations and associations, enterprises, organizations and institutions, including foreign ones, regardless of their form of ownership, representatives of the university.

The meeting confirmed KRSU's ambitious plans to become a leader in the training of highly qualified specialists and a driver of progress in Central Asia.
