KRSU and Lanzhou University discussed joint projects in the fields of AI, medicine and academic mobility

At the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, a meeting was held between the leadership of KRSU and a delegation from Lanzhou University and representatives of partner organizations of the People's Republic of China. The parties discussed the development of academic mobility, joint scientific research and the possibility of creating a laboratory, as well as cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, medicine and ecology.The meeting was attended by the rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov, the head of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKFR), the deputy chairman of the Board of Trustees of KRSU Artem Novikov, and university employees. The Chinese delegation was led by the first vice-rector, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Lanzhou University, Cao Hong.At the beginning of the meeting, guests were presented with a video about the activities of KRSU, its educational programs, scientific research and infrastructure.Cao Hong noted the practical nature of the negotiations and the Chinese side’s interest in developing a partnership with KRSU.«Today we had a very practical dialogue. We are already discussing specific roadmaps for cooperation between our universities. In particular, we are talking about improving the qualifications of Russian language teachers, developing academic mobility and scientific interaction. These are really useful and promising areas for us», she said.According to Cao Hong, the Chinese delegation was also interested in the scientific potential of KRSU and the training of specialists in the medical field.«We saw that KRSU pays serious attention to both the training of specialists and the development of scientific research and innovation. We were especially interested in the medical field. This could become one of the promising areas of our cooperation», — emphasized the first vice-rector of Lanzhou University.The parties discussed opportunities for mutual education of students, language programs, internships and advanced training for teachers.«We are interested in students from Kyrgyzstan being able to come to China and learn Chinese, and our teachers and students, in turn, being given the opportunity to undergo training and practice here. Such interaction will strengthen academic ties between our countries», — said Cao Hong.The meeting participants paid special attention to joint scientific projects. The Chinese side proposed using the upcoming events within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as an additional opportunity to consolidate the agreements reached.«On the eve of the SCO summit, our university would like to achieve concrete results of cooperation. We are interested in agreements in certain scientific areas, including medical sciences. We have the capacity to support the implementation of joint projects, so I believe that a solid basis has been created for further work», — said Cao Hong.Sergei Volkov named artificial intelligence and ecology among the promising study programs, noting that the partnership will allow combining the competencies of the research teams of the two universities.«Artificial intelligence and ecology — areas in which we are ready to work together. Such cooperation is important for us: in some areas we have serious competencies and professorial potential, in others — our Chinese colleagues have new developments and technologies. Combining these capabilities can give a concrete result», — noted the rector of KRSU.For further work, Volkov proposed identifying responsible representatives on both sides who would directly coordinate the implementation of the agreements. He also invited representatives of Lanzhou University to take part in a forum on artificial intelligence, which KRSU plans to hold in November.Separately, the rector spoke about plans to build a new campus KRSU and suggested considering the possibility of creating a joint laboratory.«We plan to start construction next year. I propose to think now about creating a joint laboratory that could become part of the future scientific infrastructure of the university», — said Sergei Volkov.The head of the RKFR, deputy chairman of the Board of Trustees of KRSU Artem Novikov noted the significant potential for interaction between the two universities and the need to move from discussing initiatives to their practical implementation.«Most importantly — we have something to complement each other’s capabilities, including for students of our universities. Today, colleagues are already discussing specific areas at the working level. Now it is important to move on to the implementation of joint educational and scientific projects», — Novikov said.The Chinese side confirmed its readiness to continue negotiations and invited representatives of KRSU to visit Lanzhou University for further discussion of joint programs.Following the meeting, the parties outlined priority areas for further work: academic mobility of students and teachers, language programs, advanced training of specialists, joint research in the field of artificial intelligence, ecology and medicine, as well as the creation of a joint laboratory. The negotiators also discussed the possibility of preparing an agreement that would consolidate the main directions of the partnership.At the end of the meeting, memorable gifts were exchanged. Sergei Volkov handed over to his Chinese colleagues a calendar depicting the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Russia, noting that after the partnership is formalized, it will be possible to symbolically prepare a calendar with the participation of the leaders of the three states.After the negotiations, representatives of the delegation visited the archaeological museum KRSU and got acquainted with the unique exhibits of the university collection.
