KRSU and the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health discussed the training of medical personnel and the development of clinical facilities

Rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU) Sergei Volkov and the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic (MOH KR) Damirbek Osmonov discussed the development of medical education, strengthening practice-oriented training and the network of clinical bases KRSU, as well as the development of joint educational and scientific programs with leading universities of the Russian Federation.Sergei Volkov informed the Minister about the development of the medical direction KRSU. Medical personnel at the university have been trained since 1994. As of September 1, 2026, the Faculty of Medicine has been transformed into the Institute of Clinical Medicine and Biomedical Technology, which integrates medical education, clinical practice, scientific research, engineering and digital technologies.The Medical Institute is being transformed to meet modern requirements for medical education, science and clinical practice, creating conditions for the training of highly qualified specialists capable of responding to healthcare challenges in a timely manner. The Institute has a high human resource potential: the educational process involves teaching staff with significant academic, scientific and clinical experience. Specialists are trained in 4 areas of specialization, including English, 43 internship and residency programs and 26 graduate and doctoral programs.Particular attention in KRSU is paid to the practical training of future doctors. Clinical training is provided on the basis of leading national, national and city health organizations at various levels of medical care. Students have the opportunity to directly participate in clinical work, and teachers of clinical departments – in advisory and treatment activities.At the same time, KRSU continues to repair and equip departments operating on the basis of healthcare organizations of the republic. Medical equipment and furniture have been purchased for the University Clinic, and existing equipment is being repaired. By the end of 2026, it is planned to additionally purchase modern medical equipment for the clinic with the support of partners, and systematic work will continue to strengthen the material and technical base and develop clinical departments.Sergey Volkov also presented to the Minister the project for the future campus of KRSU. Design of the campus is planned for 2027, start construction — for 2028.The parties discussed the prospects for the development of joint educational programs with leading Russian medical universities, including a discussion of the format in which students study for three years in Bishkek and three years at a Russian university.During the meeting, the possibility of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic allocating budget places for training medical personnel in KRSU and other accredited medical universities in the country was also discussed.Separately, issues of distribution and employment of KRSU graduates in the Kyrgyz Republic were considered. The parties intend to continue active interaction within the framework of intergovernmental agreements, paying special attention to the development of clinical bases, improving practical training and training in-demand medical personnel for the republic’s healthcare system.
