KRSU presented transformations at the university at the summit of Slavic universities

Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University has moved from a faculty model to institutes and higher schools. The rector of the university, Sergei Volkov, announced this at the IV Summit of Slavic Universities «Slavic Horizon 2026» at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.According to the rector, more than 12 thousand people are currently studying at KRSU. The educational program is at the center of the new structure. The changes should improve the quality of student training and expand the possibilities for their professional development, noted Sergei Volkov.The rector also said that KRSU took second place among universities in Kyrgyzstan in the QS World University Rankings 2027. In the world rankings, the university is in the group 901–950.One of the key topics of the summit is the use of artificial intelligence in university work and teaching. Participants discuss the development of educational programs, new approaches to organizing the educational process and the use of AI in university management.During the plenary session, Sergei Volkov invited universities from different countries to unite research teams to jointly study fresh water reserves and melting glaciers. According to the rector, KRSU already has developments on this topic.He also proposed developing joint youth events, including holding an interuniversity e-sports tournament with remote participation of students.«We are very grateful to the ministry and the polytechnic for the support you provide us. This is really very important for us», – said Sergei Volkov. He noted cooperation with SPbPU in the field of academic mobility: KRSU students study in St. Petersburg, and after returning they propose changes to the educational programs of their university.Since 2021, SPbPU, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, has been coordinating a project for the development of four joint universities: Belarusian-Russian, Russian-Armenian, Kyrgyz-Russian and Russian-Tajik universities. The summit program provides for the discussion of joint projects and the signing of an agreement on a network form for the implementation of educational programs between KRSU and SPbPU.
