KRSU participates in anti-epidemic activities
Between 27 February and 3 March, the Republic Immunoprophylaxis Centre (RCI) of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the WHO Regional Office for Europe conducted a series of integrated trainings for health workers from all regions of the country with a view to improving the surveillance system and timely localizing the measles, rubella and polio outbreak. The head of the Department of Infectious Diseases of KRSU, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Elena Radchenko, took an active part in organizing and holding the events. As a trainer in the clinical part and treatment of vaccine-controlled infections, she conducted classes in the Chui, Naryn, Issyk-Kul and Talas regions.
More than 400 medical workers were trained in the trainings, led by Deputy Director of the RCI G. Zhumagulova and representative of the WHO/Europe country office in Kyrgyzstan Kh. Lomashvili: family doctors, infectious disease specialists and epidemiologists, who will undergo cascading training on site after the trainings. During the classes, medical workers received updated information on the epidemiological situation in the world and in Kyrgyzstan. They were able to update knowledge on etiology, pathogenesis, clinic, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infections, as well as discuss and work out situational tasks in detail within the surveillance system for disease investigation and laboratory confirmation of diagnosis.
