KRSU strengthens the training of teaching staff for Kyrgyzstan

The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University is carrying out systematic work to train teaching staff aimed at overcoming the shortage of school teachers in Kyrgyzstan. The University implements a comprehensive model of teacher training, covering all levels of education – from college to higher education and additional professional education.In 2024, on behalf of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation V.N. Falkov, a pedagogical direction was opened at KRSU. Key task – formation of a modern educational base for training teachers capable of working in a bilingual environment.Educational programs include in-depth study of the Kyrgyz and Russian languages, development of interlingual and intercultural communication skills, as well as training of specialists in popular fields: mathematics, physics, Russian language, physical education, primary education, etc. Programs are formed taking into account the needs of schools, and students get the opportunity to be included in professional activities.Already at the early stages of study, KRSU students undergo teaching practice – contracts have been concluded and interaction has been built with secondary schools and educational complexes in Bishkek, which makes it possible to ensure a stable connection between theoretical training and the real educational environment.The Secondary School at KRSU, where 549 students study, also acts as a platform for practical training of future teachers. The school is integrated into the educational ecosystem of the university and implements educational programs focused on the standards of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation. Here, KRSU students gain experience working with students of different ages, develop professional competencies and are actively involved in the educational process, which allows them to build a continuous educational trajectory «school — secondary vocational education — university».Currently, more than 80 future teachers are studying at the University. In 2025, after the introduction of a voucher mechanism for financing educational organizations of higher and secondary vocational education in Kyrgyzstan, KRSU enrolled another 32 people in specialized programs.In the 2026/2027 academic year, the Russian Federation allocated 100 budget places in pedagogical areas for KRSU, and the Kyrgyz Republic will continue to support personnel training within the voucher system. The KRSU college opens secondary vocational education programs «Pedagogy» and «Preschool Education», for which 25 budget places are provided.At the same time, the University is actively developing methodological and educational work. This year, the Russian Language Institute KRSU, together with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after P. Lumumba, carried out a series of on-site educational events in various regions of Kyrgyzstan. Teachers conducted master classes and trainings for school staff, as well as career guidance meetings with schoolchildren. This work is aimed at popularizing teacher education and increasing the prestige of the teaching profession.The implementation of in-service training programmes for teachers is ongoing. With the support of ANO «Eurasia», 75 people will undergo training in the near future, which will be an additional contribution to improving the quality of school education.A separate area is supporting students of pedagogical specialties. Within the framework of the ANO «Eurasia» program, personalized scholarships are provided for 100 students studying in pedagogical areas of training, which increases the attractiveness of the profession and stimulates high-quality training of future teachers.The development of teacher education at KRSU is directly related to the ongoing major projects in the field of education. With the participation of the Russian Federation, the construction of 9 joint Russian-language schools for 1,224 students each is underway in Kyrgyzstan. As part of the first stage, completion of work and commissioning of facilities in Bishkek, Batken and Karakol are planned in 2027. Next – schools in Osh, Manas, Naryn, Talas, the villages of Novopavlovka and Progress. Both Russian and Kyrgyz teachers who have undergone the necessary training and advanced training will work in educational institutions, incl. based on KRSU.As noted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kyrgyz Republic Sergei Vakunov, such large-scale projects contribute to the implementation of the initiative of the presidents of our countries to form a single educational space between Russia and Kyrgyzstan and strengthen bilateral humanitarian ties.«There will be no shortage of teachers, since KRSU is already training specialists for these and other schools», – he emphasized in an interview with the «Mir» TV channel.Thus, the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University today acts as a key center for training teaching staff, ensuring the formation of a professional community of teachers in the context of the large-scale reform of the school education system being carried out in Kyrgyzstan.The admissions campaign starts at KRSU.
