An international conference opened in Bishkek: neutralizing destructive ideologies in Central Asia
A large-scale international scientific and practical conference of young scientists and students entitled "From national to global security: a multifactorial analysis of challenges and threats to the stable development of Central Asia" has started in Bishkek. The forum was organized by the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU), which united the efforts of five leading universities in Kyrgyzstan to discuss key problems in the region. The forum was held under the auspices of the Jogorku Kenesh and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly
Relevance of the event
This is the first analytical forum organized by the youth expert community within the framework of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, which became a platform for uniting experts and students. KRSU Vice-Rector for Youth and Information Policy Stanislav Kulikov noted that the participants’ focus is on issues of collective security and mechanisms for ensuring sustainable development of the region. The Forum emphasizes the importance of studying cultural and historical traditions and jointly analyzing factors influencing geopolitical stability.
High level support
The plenary session brought together representatives of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan. Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh in the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Alishev Shabdanbek emphasized that the forum fully meets the challenges of the time, emphasizing the need to consolidate efforts to counter destructive ideologies and preserve historical truth.
Participants and main topics
The conference brought together more than 150 participants: young researchers, professors and experts from Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Central Asian countries and Belarus. The central topic of discussion is — neutralization of destructive ideologies and extremist influence coming from outside. This task becomes especially relevant in the context of Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship of the CSTO in 2025.
The role of universities and KRSU
The scientific forum demonstrates the importance of synergy between civilian universities, law enforcement agencies and diplomatic departments. KRSU, as one of the key initiators, once again confirmed its role in strengthening the analytical capacity of regional cooperation. The participation of five leading universities in Kyrgyzstan allows us to develop comprehensive proposals aimed at ensuring security and stability.
Collective approach — the basis for success
The President of Kyrgyzstan, outlining national priorities for 2025, highlighted among them the fight against destructive ideologies, the preservation of historical truth and sustainable development. The implementation of these goals is possible only with the joint efforts of the state, the scientific community and international partners. Alishev Shabdanbek noted: "Neither development nor integration is possible without security.".
Conclusion
The international conference in Bishkek was an important step towards strengthening security in Central Asia. It has opened up new horizons for scientific cooperation, exchange of experience and development of effective solutions that can withstand modern challenges. KRSU's initiative to host this forum once again confirmed its importance as an educational and analytical center for the region.
