At the site of restoration of the monument to Ivan Panfilov, the final preparations were discussed
In the village of Panfilovka, Chui region, a visit took place to the site of restoration work of the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union, General Ivan Vasilyevich Panfilov. Together with the initiators of the project and representatives of local authorities, the site was visited by patrons and partners of the initiative.
During the meeting, the last stages of preparation were discussed. By May 9, Victory Day, a new sign will be installed on the monument with updated information about the feat of Ivan Panfilov and his division.
In addition, it is planned to build a small memorial park in the adjacent territory, which will become an integral part of the renovated historical and memorial complex.
«Work is proceeding as planned. Our task —is to have an updated symbol of memory here by May 9, accessible to all residents and guests of the region», — noted the acting rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University Sergei Volkov.
One of the topics of the meeting was the discussion of a promising project: the issue of installing the legendary T-34 tank on the territory of the complex is being considered. Negotiations on the transfer of the exhibit are being conducted with the support of the government of St. Petersburg.
During the visit, participants also visited the Panfilov Division Museum — a place of strength, memory and history.
The museum's exhibition presents personal belongings, documents, photographs and weapons of soldiers of the division formed during the Great Patriotic War. The museum carefully preserves the memory of the heroes who played a key role in the defense of Moscow in 1941, and reminds of the importance of historical heritage.
Special attention was paid to plans for the digitalization of exhibits with the subsequent transfer of their copies to the state archive.
Work to restore the monument and improve the territory continues actively.
