The renovated KRSU school opened to students after a large-scale renovation

26 november 2025

The capital hosted the grand opening of the Secondary School of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University after a large-scale overhaul — of the first institution in its almost 30-year history. The update became part of the comprehensive development of the educational vertical of KRSU and intergovernmental cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

The ceremony was attended by Special Representative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Nikolai Kudryavtsev, Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Chotonov, university management, teachers and students of the school.

The ceremony began with the raising of national flags and welcoming speeches by official representatives.

Deputy Minister Aibek Chotonov noted that the KRSU school has remained one of the strongest educational institutions in the country for 29 years:
«During this time, the school produced many professional personnel. Its graduates consistently demonstrate high results of nationwide testing — this is a direct confirmation of the strong educational base and high level of teachers. We are honored to open the renovated building and see that the KRSU school is becoming a model of quality».

Special Representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Nikolai Kudryavtsev emphasized the significance of the event in the context of Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation:
«We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. The renovation was observed literally every day, and today the school has been completely transformed. This is a big day —important negotiations between the presidents took place in Bishkek, an agreement was signed on the construction of a new KRSU campus, and a renovated school opens on the same day».

KRSU Rector Sergei Volkov noted that the school is becoming a key element of the university’s unified educational system:
«School renewal — is the transition to a new level of education. We have created modern classrooms for chemistry, biology, physics, digital disciplines, introduced an integrated learning model according to the standards of Kyrgyzstan and the Federal State Educational Standard of Russia, and developed individual trajectories for high school in four areas — engineering, medical, social, humanitarian and entrepreneurial. Our schoolchildren — those for whom a new KRSU campus is being built and modern laboratories and a university clinic are being created. The school becomes a launching pad for the future university».

As part of the ceremony, departmental awards were presented: 20 awards from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation were received by KRSU employees, and five school teachers were awarded «For services to the university».

After the official speeches, the guests of honor took part in the ceremonial untying of the ribbon, symbolizing the opening of the school, and inspected the renovated educational premises. The tour included mathematics, chemistry, biology, Russian and Kyrgyz language classrooms, as well as a laboratory for controlling unmanned systems.

In a 2025 overhaul, the school completely updated utility networks, security systems, windows and doors, sanitary facilities, floor coverings, and interior. The area was landscaped and a modern sports ground was built. New furniture, interactive panels, equipment for natural science laboratories, digital objects, robotics, preparation for ORT and Unified State Exam were purchased.

Today the school has 564 students — 62 more than the year before. The competition is up to 5 people per place in the first grades and up to 27 people — in the senior grades. In specialized classes, schoolchildren undergo training related to university areas, which allows them to form a unified educational trajectory «school — secondary vocational education — university».

The overhaul of the school was carried out at the expense of the Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The opening of the renovated school became an important part of the large-scale renovation of KRSU. A new stage in the development of the educational complex starts with the start of construction of the university campus, an agreement on which was signed on the day of the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Bishkek.
