Olga Petrova called on the SCO countries to expand scientific cooperation and jointly use research infrastructure

In her address, she noted that in 2026 the SCO celebrates the 25th anniversary of its founding and over a quarter of a century has become one of the leading international platforms for developing partnerships in various fields, including science and education.«Free and equal access to knowledge, technology and scientific achievements — one of the main factors of sustainable development. We are convinced that combining the efforts of world science will provide a strategic advantage for our countries and increase influence on the formation of the global research agenda», — Olga Petrova emphasized.The Deputy Minister presented the capabilities of the world-class Russian research infrastructure, including the NICA collider at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the SKIF Center for Collective Use in the Novosibirsk Region. According to her, such facilities open up wide opportunities for international research in the fields of physics, chemistry, materials science, medicine, biology and other study programs.Particular attention in the speech was paid to the development of international scientific collaborations. Russia is interested in expanding the participation of SCO states in joint research projects, as well as in using class «megascience» infrastructure to train young scientists and implement advanced developments.In addition, Olga Petrova noted the prospects of joint work in the field of artificial intelligence, climate research, environmental safety and genomic technologies. According to her, the development of such study programs will create a unified scientific space of the SCO and strengthen the positions of the participating states in global technological competition.The rector of KRSU Sergey Volkov is taking part in the meeting. The Forum continues to work on the development of international scientific and technical cooperation and the implementation of joint initiatives of the SCO member states.
