The opening of the exhibition took place at KRSU «Leningrad! 872 days for Victory!», dedicated to memorable dates associated with the heroic history of besieged Leningrad — the 83rd anniversary of the breaking of the siege and the upcoming 82nd anniversary of its final lifting, which is celebrated annually on January 27. The exhibition is dedicated to one of the most tragic and at the same time majestic periods of the Great Patriotic War — 872 days of the siege of the city on the Neva, now St. Petersburg. These days became a symbol of the incredible resilience, courage and fortitude of civilians who, despite hunger, cold and constant bombing, continued to live, work and fight. Director of the Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage Leonid Sumarokov, speaking at the opening of the exhibition, noted:«We must remember these terrible events not only on memorable dates. The history of the siege of Leningrad — is a tragedy and feat that must be remembered every day. It is part of our shared history and our responsibility to future generations». A special place at the exhibition was occupied by the theme of the close connection between the history of besieged Leningrad and Kyrgyzstan. During the war, the republic provided significant assistance: it sent trains with food and necessary supplies, received evacuated residents and children, placing them in the Chui Valley, Issyk-Kul and other regions of the country. Thousands of immigrants from Kyrgyzstan took part in the defense of Leningrad, fought on the fronts, as part of military formations and partisan detachments.As part of the opening of the exhibition, a rich program took place. KRSU students performed their creative performances, who, through music, poetry and artistic expression, conveyed the atmosphere of time, the pain of loss and the greatness of the feat. The event was also attended by KRSU schoolchildren, for whom the exhibition became an important lesson in history, memory and responsibility for preserving the truth about the events of the war. During the event, historical evidence was heard, personal stories of evacuation and rescue of children, as well as reminders about the inadmissibility of falsifying history and the importance of preserving the memory of the victims of the blockade and genocide of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War. Exhibition «Leningrad! 872 days to Victory!» it became not just a historical exhibition, but a space of living memory and dialogue between generations, recalling the price of Victory, human fortitude and why the feat of besieged Leningrad should forever remain in the hearts of descendants.
