The winners of the international Olympiad met with the acting rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov
At the meeting, the acting rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov congratulated the students of the team «Imperium» on their brilliant results at the International Student Olympiad in Surgery, held on November 21-22 in Astana. He noted that this success – is not just a victory, but a serious bid for the university’s leadership in the field of medical education.
«Despite the infrastructure challenges and equipment, you were able to beat teams from prestigious universities in Kyrgyzstan and Russia. This is a great achievement that emphasizes the high level of training of our students and teachers», – emphasized Sergei Volkov.
Team «Imperium» led by senior teacher R.I. Marshankulov and teacher F.S. Rakhimova took second place as a team and also won in several individual categories:
1st place in the competition «Adult cardiac surgery»;
1st place in the competition «Abdominal surgery»;
III place in the competitions «Colorectal surgery», «Plastic surgery: excision of a neoplasm with reconstruction with local flaps», «Reconstruction of the nipple-areolar complex» and «Kidney transplantation».
The Olympiad program included complex practical tasks in plastic surgery, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, transplantation and other areas. Teams from leading universities in Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia took part.
The composition of the KRSU team was presented by 3-6 year students of the specialties «General Medicine» and «Pediatrics».
Sergey Volkov also shared plans to organize a similar Olympiad at the KRSU site. The idea found support among students who expressed their willingness to share their experience and knowledge.
