Polytech expands the Slavic horizon
Celebrations dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after the first President of the Russian Federation B. Yeltsin were held in Kyrgyzstan, in which a delegation of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University led by Rector Andrei Rudsky took part.
On 12 October, the central event was a panel discussion «Slavic University 2050: prospects and priorities» held under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. The discussion participants included heads of Slavic universities, Russian coordinators of cooperation between St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Siberian Federal University, as well as representative delegations of industrial partners.
After welcoming words and congratulations, the rector of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Andrei Rudskoy spoke: «I hope today will go down in history not only as the glorious 30th anniversary of the university. We are at one of those key points when fateful decisions are made. Our task today – is not just to discuss the long-term prospects for the development of KRSU, but to clearly define the role and significance of Slavic universities, the brotherhood of universities in Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan that has developed in recent years. I am firmly convinced that we should look at such a unification not in the paradigm of bilateral partnerships, but in the paradigm of a single space, a single organism in which there is a constant exchange of the best ideas, innovations and methods, in which interethnic multilateral projects can be implemented».
The Polytechnic University has accumulated significant potential over the years of cooperation with Slavic universities. Strategic partnership with the Belarusian-Russian and Russian-Armenian universities gave the Polytechnic a significant impetus in development and the start of interesting projects. Through joint efforts, BRU, RAU and SPbPU identified new approaches to solving current scientific problems and introducing advanced educational methods, to uniting youth communities and humanitarian cooperation.
In the spring of 2023, the Polytech hosted the first Summit of Slavic Universities, one of the main leitmotifs of which was the idea that Slavic universities are now entering a new stage of development – taking on an integration, system-forming function, playing the role of outposts of Russian education in friendly countries.
Andrey Rudskoy noted that the Polytechnic University is completely open to cooperation and is ready to offer its competencies and knowledge in the field of advanced engineering education not only to KRSU, but also to other Slavic universities. In fact, Polytechnic University, as the flagship Russian university, is ready to take on the functions of mentoring this area of development of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. Specific proposals were voiced for the Polytechnic University’s partnership with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology KRSU.
After the panel discussion, a ceremony was held to sign an agreement on scientific and educational cooperation. Rector of SPbPU Andrey Rudskoy and acting Rector of KRSU Denis Fomin-Nilov, signing a joint document, agreed that they would develop scientific and educational cooperation in such areas as technical physics, electronics, mechanics, renewable energy, transport systems, construction, digital engineering.
«Only through joint efforts, with the support of our Ministries, in constant contact, exchanging innovations and advanced methods, will we be able to achieve our ambitious goals and make Slavic universities real interethnic cross-border universities – flagship universities of Russian education abroad. I am sure that such an example of cooperation and partnership will inspire new countries to join our community and expand the Slavic brotherhood», – Andrei Rudskoy summed up the results of the visit.
