Practice and principles: KRSU students were told about the ethics of a lawyer

A guest lecture was held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University on issues of professional ethics of a lawyer.The event was held at the Faculty of Law on the initiative of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law within the framework of the academic discipline «Professional Ethics».The lecture was given by the Chairman of the Board of the Bar of the Chui Region, a member of the Bar Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, a practicing lawyer and Chairman of the Association of Women Lawyers Aizana Temirbekovna Niyazalieva.During her speech, the speaker revealed the role of the legal profession as a public institution, outlining the key mission of a lawyer in ensuring the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens. Particular attention was paid to the basic principles of the profession, including independence, honesty, confidentiality and priority of the interests of the principal.A separate block of the lecture was devoted to the moral and ethical aspects of advocacy. It was about maintaining attorney-client privilege, professional standards of interaction with the court and participants in the process, as well as the culture of speech and behavior of a lawyer.The practical orientation of the meeting allowed students to discuss current issues of the profession with an expert. During the dialogue, topics of conflict of interest, professional independence, formation of a lawyer’s reputation and features of work in modern conditions were touched upon. Participants also expressed interest in the speaker's personal experience in legal practice.The guest lecture became part of the university’s systematic work to integrate practice-oriented learning and interact with the professional community.
