KRSU Professor Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov: The SCO should focus on the effectiveness of joint work

Professor of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov spoke at the First Forum of Media and Analytical Centers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, which takes place in Bishkek.In his speech, he noted that the SCO is entering a new stage of development, where the main priority is not expanding the organization, but increasing the efficiency of interaction between the participating countries.According to professor KRSU, international organizations play an important role in strengthening the sovereignty of states and creating sustainable mechanisms for practical cooperation. At the same time, small and medium-sized states are able not only to participate in the work of associations, but also to propose initiatives that turn political agreements into real projects.Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov paid special attention to the intellectual component of the SCO’s activities. He emphasized that analysts and journalists are full participants in the political process, forming an expert and public agenda.Among the key tasks, the professor outlined filling SCO institutions with practical content, developing joint research in the field of transport, security, climate change and digital technologies, as well as strengthening cooperation between the expert community and the media.Separately, he noted the growing role of the Central Asian countries, emphasizing that their contribution should be expressed not only in supporting common initiatives, but also in putting forward their own ideas and practical solutions.The first Forum of Media and Think Tanks of SCO Member States is organized by the Kyrgyz National News Agency «Kabar» together with the Chinese News Agency «Xinhua». The event was attended by about 250 representatives from 26 countries - heads of news agencies, think tanks, experts and representatives of government agencies.
