The work of KRSU scientists has been called exemplary
The next issue of the journal of the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences «Issues of Psycholinguistics» has been published (№ 3 [57] 2023). In an authoritative publication, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of General and Russian Linguistics of the State Institute of Russian Language named after. A. Pushkina Maria Milovanova presented a review of the documentary-biographical monograph of Leonid and Olga Sumarokov «E.D. Polivanov. Unfinished linguistic symphony». The book itself, part of the author’s series «Eurasians – Creators», was published in 2021 and has already received high praise from RAS scientists.
The current review, against the backdrop of updating the problem of preserving historical memory, is of particular interest. The question is that the authors of the monograph on the Russian universal linguist Evgeniy Dmitrievich Polivanov revealed the scientist’s 20-year activity in Central Asia, which consisted of determining methodological principles and methodological techniques for creating alphabets, dictionaries, grammars and textbooks in the national languages of the Turkestan region. They showed the enormous linguistic, methodological, methodological and educational work of E. Polivanov in the field of poetic linguistics and poetic translations, in particular the translation of the chapters of the epic «Manas», which, in fact, is proof of the absurdity of the statements of the conductors of the idea of decolonization.
As an evidence base, which Maria Milovanova calls «an advantage of the Bishkek publication», the authors of the monograph used data not only from Russian state archives, but also from the archives of the Kyrgyz Republic, the foundation of the Institute of Language and Literature named after. CH. Aitmatova. As a result of this, they introduced into scientific circulation documentary facts that were difficult for Russian science, developing knowledge about the linguistic, methodological and scientific-methodological thought of E. Polivanov. The book provides an important Polivanov thesis – for true knowledge it is necessary to study not only the language, but also the culture and history of the people.
Monograph «E.D. Polivanov. The unfinished linguistic symphony», according to professor at the Pushkin Institute of Russian Language, is exemplary in presenting interdisciplinary factual material, which attracts the attention of the scientific community.
