Education reforms: a meeting was held in Bishkek with the participation of rectors

Rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University Sergei Volkov took part in an extended working meeting with the participation of heads of higher educational institutions.The meeting was held on 25 March 2026 at the Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaev, chaired by the Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulzat Isamatova. The discussion was attended by deputy ministers, representatives of relevant departments of the department, as well as rectors of universities, including in an online format.The key topics of the meeting were current reforms and priority areas for the development of the system of higher and secondary vocational education. In particular, the transition to updated state educational standards in the context of the introduction of a 12-year school education system, the revision of the list of study programs training and the updating of educational programs taking into account modern labor market requirements were discussed.Special attention was paid to the development of scientific potential, improving the quality of research and strengthening the relationship between science and education. Participants also reviewed the implementation of a system of key performance indicators (KPIs) in universities, increasing the transparency of their activities and improving mechanisms for managing the quality of education.During the meeting, information was presented on the digitalization of the education system and plans for the further implementation of digital solutions in the educational process and management of universities.In addition, the discussion touched upon the draft Strategy for the Development of Higher Education for 2026–2030 and key areas of the National Development Program until 2030, including the introduction of a dual learning model, expanding interaction between universities with business and the scientific environment, as well as the development of new educational study programs.Minister Gulzat Isamatova emphasized the need for a systematic modernization of higher education, strengthening the practical orientation of education and integrating science, education and production.As a result of the meeting, priority tasks were identified and appropriate instructions were given. It was also noted that similar on-site meetings with the participation of university leaders will continue on the basis of other educational organizations in the country.
