Rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University Sergei Volkov gave a live interview to the «Radio Academy» program on the radio station «Moscow Speaks». During the conversation, key issues in the development of higher education in the Kyrgyz Republic, the role of KRSU in the Russian-Kyrgyz educational space, as well as the reasons why the university is chosen by applicants from different regions of Russia were touched upon.It was noted on air that KRSU today is one of the leading universities in the country and remains in demand not only among graduates of Kyrgyz schools, but also among students from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Siberia and the Far East. The features of the educational model of the university, which trains specialists in a wide range of study programs — from economics and humanities to medicine and engineering, were discussed.A separate block of conversation was devoted to the history and mission of the university. According to Sergei Volkov, KRSU was conceived as a joint project of Russia and Kyrgyzstan and as a classical university, focused on the development of the Russian-language educational and cultural space and acting as a connecting bridge between the countries.«The name of the university contains the word “Slavic”, and this is no coincidence. The university was originally created as a space for dialogue between cultures and educational cooperation. Today KRSU is valued both in Russia and in the Kyrgyz Republic, and the geography of applicants is constantly expanding», — noted the rector.The development of scientific and project activities was also discussed live. Sergei Volkov spoke about supporting student initiatives, launching startups and attracting venture investments. Among those implemented by study programs — are agrotechnological projects using hydroponics, environmental monitoring of the urban environment of Bishkek, studies of the capital's traffic congestion, as well as the work of robotics laboratories and unmanned aerial vehicles.«We use the city as a living scientific laboratory — from ecology and traffic flows to applied engineering solutions. This allows students to gain practical experience and formulate offers that are in demand at the city and republic levels», — emphasized Sergei Volkov.In addition, the interview touched upon issues of cooperation between KRSU and business, student participation in extracurricular activities and the formation of a modern university environment. It is noted that the university consistently develops practice-oriented learning, integrating education, science and real needs of the economy.
