Russian language and culture – window into a big world of possibilities!
Institute of Russian Language named after. A. Orusbaev Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after. The first President of the Russian Federation B. Yeltsin successfully implemented the project from July to December 2023 «Volunteer Movement “Ambassadors of Russian Culture to Kyrgyzstan”». The project was implemented with the support of the «Russian World» Foundation.
High school students – 8th, 9th, 10th grade students (volunteers) and young Russian language teachers (curators) from all regions of the republic, namely from schools in small towns – Kara-Balta, Osh, took an active part in the project, Talas, Karakol, Naryn, Jalal-Abad, Batken.
The organizers and performers of the volunteer movement achieved the set goals of the project: to deepen the knowledge of volunteers in the Russian language and literature, immerse participants in Russian culture, develop leadership qualities, skills and abilities for carrying out organizational and educational work among students and their parents, implementing the main mission of the Russian Language Institute named after. A. Orusbaeva KRSU – promotion, support and strengthening of the position of the Russian language and culture in all areas of life and throughout the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition, we approached the problem of cultivating a positive attitude towards Russia and the Russian world among the younger generation of Kyrgyzstanis.
The volunteer movement «Ambassadors of Russian Culture» was implemented under the motto «Russian language and culture – window to a big world of opportunities» in the interests of preserving and strengthening the position of Russian culture through the promotion and activation of the values of the Russian world.
The project was of several months duration and consisted of a number of phases.
The preparatory stage, which included all organizational tasks: development and release of a methodological manual for volunteers, drawing up a program, organizing comfortable accommodation for guests in Bishkek.
Second stage – period of selection of schoolchildren. For these purposes, Institute specialists traveled to the regions to select future volunteers. An algorithm was compiled to identify the level of basic knowledge in the Russian language and literature, leadership qualities, and psycho-emotional readiness to arrive outside the home on training days in Bishkek. As a result, 25 students and 10 teachers were selected.
Third stage – training of volunteers, conducting master classes, trainings, classes for volunteer students and teacher-curators on the basis of the Institute of Language Arts KRSU. As part of the project at the Institute of Russian Language named after. A. Orusbaev of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, high school students underwent special training, which included the study of Russian culture, history, literature and art, relations between Russia and the Kyrgyz Republic, cinema and music, culture and folklore, as well as training on the development of leadership qualities. In addition, they were introduced to techniques for teaching the Russian language and culture and organizing various events. For volunteers and their curators who came to Bishkek, such cultural events were organized as a visit to the National Historical Museum, the National Museum of Art. Gapara Aitieva, etc.
Upon completion of the training, a ceremonial event was held – initiation into volunteers, where each was awarded a project volunteer certificate «Ambassadors of Russian Culture to Kyrgyzstan». Project participants received memorable gifts, a methodological manual for volunteers and gratitude for their contribution to the development of the volunteer movement and the popularization of Russian culture.
The fourth stage of the project involved conducting classes locally, in various regions of Kyrgyzstan, where student volunteers, with the support of their curators, had to use the manual issued to them as a hint and guide for conducting classes. Which was fully completed.
At this stage, students and volunteers acted as teachers, organizing various lessons and events aimed at motivating local schoolchildren to learn Russian. They used a variety of teaching methods and techniques, including interesting and practical tasks.
The manual, which was issued to each project participant, contained methodological developments for various lessons, games, and tasks for conducting classes. It helped students and volunteers structure classes and included specific topics for study such as grammar, reading, writing, and conversational practice. The curators, in turn, provided support and assistance to student volunteers in conducting classes. Teacher-curators advised on teaching methods, provided additional materials and resources, and monitored the quality and results of each group.
As a result, all project participants acquired new knowledge and skills, developed their leadership and organizational qualities, and also felt in demand in society. The project «Volunteer Movement "Ambassadors of Russian Culture"» had a positive impact on the lives of all its participants and became a striking example of a successful volunteer movement. The success of the project was ensured by the competent leadership of Doctor of Physical and Physical Sciences, Professor M. Tagaev, Director of the Institute of Russian Arts KRSU, the creative approach of the Project performers – A. Ernisova, Z. Altybaeva, N. Shalygina and other employees of the Institute of Russian Arts, and the deep interest of the student volunteers themselves and teachers-curators.
