Sergei Volkov presented the progress of the reconstruction of the monument to Panfilov at a meeting in the Jogorku Kenesh
A working meeting was held between the deputy torag of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Azygaliev and the rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B.N. Yeltsin by Sergei Volkov and General Director of the company «Leasing Express» Maxim Syshchikov. The key topic of discussion was the progress of reconstruction of the monument to Hero of the Soviet Union General Ivan Panfilov in the village of the same name in the Chui region.
Rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov made a detailed report on the implementation of the project, emphasizing that the initiative is not only memorial, but also socio-humanitarian in nature. According to him, as part of the restoration of the monument, comprehensive landscaping of the territory is provided: a modern park with a children's playground, recreation areas and elements of an accessible environment will be created next to the monument.
—We will coincide with the opening of the updated monument and new public space on May 9, 2026, — noted Sergei Volkov. — For KRSU, this is not only a duty of memory, but also a contribution to the patriotic education of youth, strengthening historical ties between generations and peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
Deputy Trade Minister of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Azygaliev expressed gratitude to the university management and project partners for their initiative and active citizenship. He emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and ordered the creation of a working group to coordinate further work and quality control at all stages.
The project for the reconstruction of the monument to Panfilov is being implemented on the initiative of KRSU with the support of patrons, business and government agencies. Under the leadership of Sergei Volkov, the university has already conducted an engineering examination of the condition of the monument, work has begun on the restoration of bronze elements and granite cladding, as well as the preparation of design estimates for landscaping the territory.
It is expected that the memorial complex will become not only a place of memory, but also a point of attraction for residents and guests of the region, where history will live in a modern and accessible format.
