Philology students KRSU took part in the International Competition of Oratory and Expressive Reading at RUDN University
Students of the Russian language department KRSU Akylai Zhumagulova and Valeria Ryzhikh performed at the International Competition of Oratory and Expressive Reading «Literary Moscow», which took place on October 5 and 6 at RUDN University (Moscow).
Our philologists were invited to the event after their presentations at the interuniversity student practical conference with international participation «Culture of scientific and professional-business communication» (May 25-27, 2023).
Students from the CIS countries took part in the oratory competition. The competition program consisted of two rounds. In the first round, each participant made a prepared oral self-presentation. The second round – team – consisted of an impromptu performance by a group of students on a proposed topic.
All participants received certificates. Valeria Ryzhikh won in the category «Socrates of our time».
After the oratorical competition, all contestants took part in entertainment and educational events on the topic «Literary Moscow». The program of two days of international meeting of students at RUDN University was very rich and exciting and gave our students a bright, rich experience of intercultural communication.
Valeria Ryzhikh:
–On October 5-6, the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia held a competition of oratory skills and expressive reading, in which I had the opportunity to participate. Two days flew by unnoticed. The program was full of various activities, in addition to the main one.
On the first day, after the individual and group tours, the participants were gathered to go to the musical «Fear Nothing, I'm with You!», which took place at the MDM Theater. The audience amazed with its scale and changing scenery, and the actors – with choreography, voice and, of course, acting. The imitation of a starry sky at the beginning of the musical gave a feeling of cozy loneliness, as if now a sacred story would be revealed only before your eyes.
On the second day there was a quest to the cultural attractions of Moscow, combined with an excursion. «Tsoi's Wall», monument to B. Okudzhava, memorial apartment of A. Pushkin and house-museum of M. Lermontov – here is a list of only a few places that we were able to see. There was creative peace and support in the team. There is even a memorable video from the quest that will warm the soul and heart. At the end of the second day, the results of the competition were summed up. I was lucky enough to become the winner in the «Socrates of our time» category. It was unexpectedly pleasant! The competition brought many vivid impressions, memorable photographs and creative inspiration. Thanks to the organizers of RUDN University for the opportunity to prove themselves and meet like-minded people!

–Students from the CIS countries and Moscow took part in the competition. The program of events was very interesting and exciting.
At the beginning, participants were divided into groups and coordinators were identified. After the individual tour «Self Presentation», we split back into subgroups and, teaming up with new friends, prepared for the group tour «Improvisation». Various themes for the tour provided participants with the opportunity to express their opinions, for example, my team had a theme: «In the fairy tale, Guidon saves the Swan Princess and, with the help of her magic, changes her life for the better, brings her father back and finds love. Guidon's success –is it luck or a pattern?», and our team decided to have a debate on stage.
I gained new experience, was able to make friends and communicate with students from different countries. We were all so different, but we were all united by the great Russian language!
