Students of the Department of Journalism at an event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Ancestors and the 100th anniversary of the newspaper «Word of Kyrgyzstan»
Students of the Department of Journalism, together with the head of the department, took part in an event organized by the Ministry of Education and Science in the Technopark.
The meeting was timed to coincide with the Day of Remembrance of Ancestors and the 100th anniversary of the newspaper «Word of Kyrgyzstan». The solemn event was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Tagaev, State Secretary Marat Imankulov, Deputy Chairman of the Union of Journalists Kurmanbek Ramatov, Editor-in-Chief of the Publishing House «Slovo of Kyrgyzstan» Elena Zholobova, as well as specially invited guests.
The guests spoke about the rich history of the publication, which start was published on March 23, 1925 under the title «Batratskaya Pravda». Later the newspaper was called «Peasant Way», then «Soviet Kyrgyzstan», and since February 1991 has had a modern name — «Word of Kyrgyzstan».
The Ambassador of the Russian Federation made a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of journalism as a tool for intercultural dialogue. There was also a speech by professional journalist Elena Zholobova, who presented her original text.
The event was a valuable opportunity for students to interact with recognized masters of the pen, learn about trends in the media sphere and be inspired by the experience of professionals.
