Students write about the war

Students of the Faculty of Medicine took an active part in the Russian language event dedicated to the Great Victory of 1945. During remote classes, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Language N.I. Dortsueva suggested writing an essay on the topic «May 9 in the life of my family». We publish the best of the freshman essays.

June 1941, a terrible time associated with one word – «War»! War – is the most terrible word in all languages of the world. Just a word, and how much pain, suffering and death it carries within itself... The memory of war cannot be erased from memory. A time when young and old went to the front, left their relatives and friends through pain and suffering, when everyone was brothers and sisters, regardless of nationality, everyone stood up to defend the Motherland. Thanks to the unity and exploits of the heroes, the Soviet Union defeated the Nazis.

This terrible event did not pass by my family. My great-grandfather on my father’s side took part in the war. Unfortunately, I didn’t see him, but I heard my grandfather’s stories about him.

Great-grandfather – Ali Ali-ogly Hasanov was born in 1891. He was called up to the front as deputy chairman of the village council. He managed to pass the test of courage, loyalty and perseverance. Together with all the soldiers, he survived and won. I consider my great-grandfather a great hero. Once at the front, he fought shoulder to shoulder with other Red Army soldiers, but was later captured by two Germans. Fortunately, a shovel came to hand, and my great-grandfather was able to destroy both fascists with it. Then he continued to fight. The fighters, despite the hardships and difficulties of war, did not give up and fought for us and peace. After the war, my great-grandfather lived a long life and left this world in 1985.

He was awarded the medal «For the Defense of the Caucasus» and awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, II degree. He will forever remain a brave hero in our hearts and memories.

Today, there are fewer and fewer veterans of the Great Patriotic War left around the world. Modern people's values have changed, people have become tougher, more insensitive, and for the most part think only about their own comfort. Did the heroes of the war fight the Nazis for four years for this? I am very ashamed and offended to realize that people of the 21st century sometimes devalue such concepts as kindness, mercy and mutual assistance.

We – the last generation that saw the heroes who fought for our bright «today», we live among those who were children in that brutal war, these are our grandparents, great-grandparents...

Our duty – to preserve the memory of the exploits of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and sacredly honor the memory of them, so that their glory does not fade away.

It's the twenty-first century – two thousand and twenty.

Just think about this number – 75. You ask: «So what?». I will answer you: «This is 75 years of peaceful sky above your head». How many millions of soldiers died defending their homeland! People died not only at the front, but also from hunger in the rear. While husbands and fathers went into battle, women, along with old people and children, worked tirelessly to provide soldiers with weapons and food. I believe that this is a common Victory for the entire Soviet people.

We – the generation that still remembers veterans, so let's make sure that our children remember and do not forget the price of Victory. I am one of those teenagers who can still say: «There is a defender of the country in my family». On Victory Day, my family remembers with a special sense of pride and respect Salman Nasibovich Aliyev, my great-grandfather, who was taken to the front, where he fought bravely. He was lucky – he was not seriously wounded during the war.

After the war, my great-grandfather was awarded many medals. My great-grandfather was born in peacetime, and had no idea that he would become part of history. He grew up, studied and was called to defend the Motherland. After the war, he worked on a state farm all his life. I was named after him. It's a pity that I don't remember my great-grandfather well, because he died when I was three years old. He lived not with us, but with the family of his youngest son, but when visiting my uncle, we often looked at war photographs, postcard letters, and military awards. My parents talked a lot about him, but, of course, I would like to hear everything first-hand.

Victory Day – great holiday. This is a special date in the life of every Kyrgyz citizen, and, of course, the entire Soviet people.

I think on this day more than one family watches the festive parade and war films. This day is entirely dedicated to war films, and it doesn’t matter that they are the same from year to year. I, like my grandparents, believe that Soviet films will remain the best of all time. And I think that I can show my children these shots, which are often touched by the soul. My grandmother never tires of watching the film «They fought for the Motherland», and my grandfather will put off any business if he finds out that the film is on «And the dawns here are quiet». Mom loves to sing the good old «Katyusha», and father happily sings along to the lines from the song «Victory Day». After the festive dinner, my brother and I go to Ala-Too Square, where a concert dedicated to Victory Day is taking place. The most important event of this evening is the festive fireworks to the song «Victory Day» and shots in the air from the guns of our soldiers. This memory is sacred and eternal, and I am proud to live at a time when I could shake hands with a veteran of the Great Patriotic War!
