Honored Scientist, Associate Professor of KRSU Vitaly Kovalenko has passed away
At the age of 81, the head of the Information and Computing Center KRSU, Associate Professor Vitaly Akimovich Kovalenko, died suddenly.
V.A. Kovalenko successfully graduated from the mining and geological faculty of the Frunze Polytechnic Institute (FPI) in 1963. He began his career at the Institute of Physics and Rock Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic. In 1974 he was invited to the Fund for a teaching position. In 1982 he became head of the department «Automated control systems and computer technology». Under his leadership, one of the best computer centers in the Republic based on the EU computer was created at the Fund.
Since 1993, Vitaly Akimovich has headed the Information and Computing Center of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. In parallel with this position, from 1999 to 2018, he was the chief manager of the Regional Branch of the International Science and Technology Center (RO ISTC in the Kyrgyz Republic).
Under the scientific guidance of V.A. Kovalenko developed a unique software and hardware complex «Blast Maker», designed for automated preparation of production in quarries. The complex includes a software package for a computer-aided drilling and blasting design system and a hardware-software automated system for collecting and transmitting data from drilling rigs. Today, this development, corresponding to the high global level of modern information technologies, is in demand at many mining enterprises in Russia and Kazakhstan. In the Kyrgyz Republic it was implemented at «Kumtor».
Being a brilliant scientist and leader, V.A. Kovalenko authored more than 70 scientific papers, books and textbooks.
The bright memory of him will forever remain in the hearts of all those who knew him.
