The II Russian-Kyrgyz Educational Forum: joint efforts for the future started in Bishkek
The II Russian-Kyrgyz Educational Forum (RKOF-2025) began its work at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU). Representatives of the government, leading universities, scientific organizations and the business community of the two countries take part in the event.
The forum has become a key platform for dialogue on specialist training, the development of university consortia and practical cooperation with industrial partners.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baysalov noted that the country has an acute shortage of personnel in almost all areas.
«Today our locomotive is gaining momentum: many industries are coming to life — both old and completely new for Kyrgyzstan. But at the same time, we are experiencing an acute shortage of specialists. We need engineers, doctors, and, of course, first of all — teachers. What to hide? It is not customary for us, the Kyrgyz, to keep silent about problems in front of family and friends. And Russia is our —closest allies», he emphasized.
According to him, the country is forced to invite not only highly qualified specialists, but also representatives of blue-collar professions due to the outflow of personnel.
«All this speaks to the serious crisis we face amid a rapid economic recovery. Therefore, the country’s leadership has set KRSU and other universities the task of radically updating curricula and methodologies», — added Baysalov.
Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Kyrgyzstan Sergei Vakunov recalled that education should be directly related to the needs of the economy:
«We live in an increasingly global competition — political, economic and technological. Universities in Russia and Kyrgyzstan must help our economies develop and ensure the well-being of citizens. The leaders of the two countries have set ambitious development goals, and universities are obliged to join forces in order to provide specific and adequate responses to the challenges of the time», the diplomat noted.
The Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic Baktiyar Orozov emphasized the importance of the university as a platform for the development of integration:
«KRSU has been a symbol of cooperation and trust between our countries for more than 30 years. Today, the university is demonstrating new approaches to educational and scientific projects and strengthening ties with industry. It is precisely such universities that should become the backbone of consortia that unite universities and production».
Rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov added that the university sees its mission as not only an educational, but also a practice-oriented center:
«Forum — is an opportunity to turn ideas into real development tools. We, together with students and teachers, are ready to offer solutions that will be useful to society and the economy».
The forum will include more than 20 seminars, round tables and master classes. Issues of integration of science and production, digitalization of education, expansion of academic mobility and joint research are discussed.
As a result, a number of agreements are expected to be signed between universities in Russia and Kyrgyzstan, including the launch of new educational programs and projects for the real sector of the economy.
Particular attention is paid to youth initiatives. At the forum, students present their startups, environmental projects and research developments, demonstrating the practical significance of university science and the potential of the new generation.
