KRSU presented a collection of memories of the descendants of the siege survivors
On November 21, in the conference hall of the main building of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, a presentation of a collection of memories of descendants of the siege survivors «Siege of Leningrad: remember, not just know» took place.
The collection was released in a limited edition of 500 copies. The book includes stories that reflect the vicissitudes of life of ordinary defenders of the hero city.
The main mission of the project, according to the authors, is to preserve the historical memory of the tragedy of besieged Leningrad. The creators hope that the stories published in the collection will, first of all, touch the hearts of young people, reveal new pages of history for them, and form a reliable picture of those alarming and memorable years, which ill-wishers are currently trying to distort and cross out.
The author of the idea and one of the compilers of the collection is Evgeniy Umerenkov in his speech recalled that there are fewer and fewer living siege survivors and their children in the world, those who can tell for certain the stories of the heroic and tragic years of the siege of Leningrad.
– That is why it is so important to speak publicly about the events of those troubled days, about the defenders of Leningrad, about why the city was not surrendered. This is the main idea of the collection – it is important not just to know your history, but to remember and pass it on to the streams – noted E. Umerenkov.
The presentation was attended by employees of KRSU – Vice-Rector for Information Policy Fedor Turygin, Advisor to the Rector on Historical and Cultural Heritage Leonid Sumarokov, chairman of the Kyrgyz Society of Siege Survivors of Leningrad Marat Kutanov, teachers and students of KRSU.
