KRSU hosted a round table «Challenges of modernity and philosophy»
November 16 by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies named after. Academician A. Kakeev, as part of the celebration of World Science Day, World Philosophy Day and the 30th anniversary of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B. Yeltsin, an International Round Table «Challenges of Modernity and Philosophy» was organized and held.
Holding the annual round table has become a good tradition of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. This time, the participants discussed the current problems that modern people face in the era of digital transformation, the development of artificial intelligence and big data, which pose a huge number of challenges to them.
The round table included work in two sections. The first section (student) was held at the Faculty of Humanities. Presentations were made by 8 students and undergraduates of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. During the speeches and discussions, participants considered such issues as the role of philosophy in the era of digitalization, the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence, the influence of L. Wittgenstein’s philosophy of language on the construction of reality, the problem of artificial intelligence and human creative activity, as well as the problem of transforming the concept of play in the life of modern man.
After the breakout round table session, the senior students held a ceremonial initiation for the first-year philosophers. As always, the dedication was accompanied by a festive mood, humor from student life, philosophical jokes, fun competitions, and an intellectual quiz on ancient and Eastern philosophy.
The second section (scientific and pedagogical) took place in the main building of KRSU. 13 representatives of leading universities in Russia and the Republic of Belarus (MSU named after M. Lomonosov, Southern Federal University, Mordovian State University, Russian Biotechnology University, Altai State Technical University named after. AND. Polzunova, The Belarusian State Academy of Communications, (), as well as 9 professors, associate professors, doctoral students and graduate students of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies.
Foreign guests noted the high scientific level and content of the issues of the announced speeches of all participants, and also emphasized that they always take part in the annual meetings of this round table with pleasure and interest.
During the presentations, scientists and students examined the philosophical aspects of artificial intelligence in the conditions of a new social reality, the reflection of the digital transformation of society in educational programs of socio-humanitarian study programs training, the challenges and risks associated with artificial intelligence, the influence of artificial intelligence on understanding the competencies of a teacher, ethical problems of using Big data in work processes, regulatory and ethical aspects of the use of big data and other pressing issues.
Of particular interest were reports on the transformation of trust in the digital age, the digitalization of social memory in modern philosophy, the problems of commodification of open data during the development of generative artificial intelligence based on language models in the activities of proprietary platforms, etc.
In conclusion, the participants suggested continuing their research due to its relevance and relevance. Since philosophy has a huge role to play in the analysis, discourse and attempt to scientifically understand these problems, as well as in the development of socio-ethical recommendations and methodological solutions, philosophy has a huge role to play.
