KRSU hosted a discussion foresight platform: «Education in the 21st century: expectations of young people, desires of parents, requests of employers, interests of the state and society»
A discussion foresight platform was held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University on the topic «Education in the 21st century: expectations of young people, desires of parents, requests of employers, interests of the state and society». The event brought together leading experts in the field of education, representatives of employers and the academic community to discuss key issues and prospects for the development of higher education in the new environment.
Zarina Umetalieva, head of the Expert Analytical Center «Meikin», opened the discussion, noting that the topic of discussion was not chosen by chance. «The world is changing rapidly, and along with it the expectations of parents and employers are changing», — Umetalieva emphasized. Rector of KRSU Denis Fomin-Nilov drew attention to the global challenges facing modern universities. «Today we are talking about the goals and missions of universities. In the 21st century, the world has become digital and universities must conform to new approaches. We need digital transformation, transition to a new state. The university must become a corporation that can meet all needs. If we don’t change lanes, we will find ourselves overboard», — Fomin-Nilov noted. He also stressed that the admissions campaign will begin on June 20, and universities must be prepared for new requirements and expectations from applicants and their parents.
President of the Union of Banks of Kyrgyzstan Anvar Abdraev shared his views from employers. He expressed concern about the low level of training of graduates, emphasizing the need for universities to closely interact with employers. «It is necessary to move on to ordering the training of specialists, and not to produce people with higher education who do not have practical skills», — Abdraev said. He also noted that KRSU has every chance of becoming a №1 university in Central Asia. «A university becomes a serious university when serious luminaries teach there. You have every opportunity to invite scientists not only from Kyrgyzstan, but also from Russia. I think if you follow this path, it will greatly increase the chances of becoming the best university in Central Asia. KRSU will shine with new facets of its diamond», he noted.
Sheradil Baktygulov raised the issue of the social role of universities. «KRSU aims to become the number one university. I liked your approach to creating a new framework that is relevant in the future. Universities have a wonderful socialization function, which is often forgotten», — noted Baktygulov.
Banker and philanthropist Babur Tolbaev emphasized the importance of educating quality people. «In the 21st century, the most important asset — is a good person. The university must prepare people for life by cultivating good qualities», — said Tolbaev.
Zhainak Usenov, ex-head of OTRK, noted the need to work with parents and adapt to changes in the demand for professions. «Professions that were in demand 5-10 years ago are no longer relevant today. It is necessary to train personnel for new realities», — Usenov emphasized.
The foresight platform at KRSU was an important step in the search for new formats and meanings for education in the 21st century. The university intends to actively implement the discussed ideas to improve the quality of education and training of specialists in order to meet the requirements of the modern world.
