The International Conference «New Migration in Eurasia: Implications for Integration Processes» was held at KRSU
From May 18 to 21, the International Conference «New Migration in Eurasia: Consequences for Integration Processes» was held at KRSU.
The organizers of the large-scale forum, the participants of which were scientists from Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other countries, were the Institute of Demographic Research of the Federal Research Sociological Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Scientific Council «Socio-political and demographic problems of the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union» at the Department of Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after. B. Yeltsin, International Analytical Club «Issyk-Kul – Greater Eurasia».
More than 100 people took part in the event.
The purpose of the conference is to discuss the theoretical and applied aspects of interdisciplinary study of the consequences for integration processes in the Eurasian space due to the emergence of new migration flows there, and the construction of new models of cooperation.
The conference was opened by the rector of KRSU, academician Vladimir Nifadiev. The Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic Kudaibergen Bazarbayev, Deputy of the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation on Nationalities Affairs Anastasia Udaltsova, acting Director of the Institute of Demographic Research of the Federal Scientific Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor Marina Khramova, Chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on harmonization of interethnic and interreligious relations Vladimir Zorin, First Deputy Secretary General – Head of the General Secretariat of the Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia Svetlana Smirnova, advisor to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic Viktor Kharchenko, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Association «Analytics», Chairman of the Eurasian Information and Analytical Consortium Nikolay Bordyuzha, member of the Migration Council under the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic, member of the Migration Committee of the Eurasian Economic Commission Svetlana Bashtovenko, President of the Russian State Humanitarian University Efim Pivovar.
The conference was held in a hybrid format (online and offline).
Russian and Kyrgyz specialists in the field of science, culture, education and demography, representatives of federal and regional authorities, non-profit public organizations examined the economic and social aspects of the demographic policy of Kyrgyzstan and Russia, the reasons for return migration from Russia to the countries of the EAEU and the post-Soviet space, everyday practices of return migrants, features of Russian emigration from Russia to Kyrgyzstan, the role of public organizations in the socio-demographic processes of Kyrgyzstan and other issues.
At the plenary part of the conference, a Member of the Board (Minister) for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Center for Eurasian Integration, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor S. Glazyev spoke, who in a video report on the topic «Eurasian integration: economics, politics, society» substantiated the prerequisites and consequences of integration and disintegration processes in the modern world.
Of great interest were the plenary reports and speeches of the IDI staff of the Federal Scientific Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Head of the Department for Research of Socio-Demographic Processes in the EAEU G. Osadchaya, Chief Researcher of the Department for Research of Socio-Demographic Processes in the EAEU O. Volkova, Chief Researcher of the Department for Research of Socio-Demographic Processes in the EAEU T. Yudina, Head of the Department of Ethnodemographic, Religious and Integration Processes V. Ledeneva, Deputy Director for Scientific Work T. Rostov, leading researcher at the Department for Research of Socio-Demographic Processes in the EAEU E. Kireev, Deputy Director for Innovative Design A. Lukyanets, Chief Researcher E. Pismennaya; employees of KRSU – professors L. Khoperskaya («Relocation from Russia as a socio-political phenomenon of 2022») and A. Kocherbaeva («Economic consequences of the relocation of Russians in Kyrgyzstan»); professor Kench Ohashi («Transformation of russia-speaking tourism mobility in Vietnam: some ethnographic accounts on recent trends»).
Three sections were organized within the framework of the conference: «Demographic policy of Kyrgyzstan and Russia: economic and social aspects» (moderators – A. Sayakbaeva, O. Volkova); «Reintegration of return migrants from Russia in Kyrgyzstan: socio-economic problems» (moderators – L. Kryzhanova, E. Ploskikh, V. Ledeneva); section «Return migration and emigration from Russia to Kyrgyzstan: dynamics, causes and everyday practices» (moderators – T. Yudina, A. Kocherbaeva).
As part of the conference for young teachers, graduate students and university students of Bishkek, the Demographic School of the Institute of Demographic Research of the Federal Scientific Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held under the leadership of leading researcher E. Kireev, in which 35 students took part. At the end, all of them were awarded the appropriate certificates.
