KRSU has undergone the full-time part of the training of future course mentors «Fundamentals of project activities»
From October 20 to 24, 2025, a face-to-face training session for teachers who will become mentors of the new training course «Fundamentals of Project Activities» was held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. This event was the starting point of a large-scale project to introduce project-based learning into the educational process of KRSU.
The course «Fundamentals of Project Activities» aims to develop practical project management and teamwork skills among students. During its implementation, participants will master the key principles of project management and implement real projects for external and internal customers. Each student team will be assigned a mentor from among the university teachers.
The author of the course is Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), where the program has been successfully implemented since 2017 and covers all second-year undergraduate students. At KRSU, a pilot version of the course is scheduled to launch in the spring semester of 2026. Until this time, future mentors undergo training and, together with the university management, formulate a list of project topics.
«Course “Project Activities Framework” is a good practice long implemented at the Polytechnic University. Now we are implementing it for the first time in Kyrgyzstan, based on KRSU. For students, this is a unique opportunity to try themselves in working on real projects and implement their own ideas», — noted Marina Yurchenko, Vice-Rector for Educational Activities of KRSU.
Employees of the departments of information and computing technologies, EizUS, ONFH, applied mathematics and computer science, physical processes of mining production, physics and microelectronics, advertising, DAS, TIPAYA and MK took part in the training.
The training of mentors is carried out by specialists from SPbPU — senior lecturer at the Higher School of Design Activities and Innovation in Industry Inna Seledtsova and senior researcher at the International Academic Competence Center «Intelligent Enterprise Technologies» of the Advanced Engineering School «Digital Engineering», Ph.D. Anton Ambrazhey.
«Our team has extensive experience in replicating the course to other universities. We provide not only training for mentors, but also full methodological support for its implementation and pilot launch», — noted Anton Ambrazhay.
«When implementing the course in KRSU, we pay a lot of attention to localization: mentoring model, assessment system, specifics of project topics. Our experience in replicating courses at other universities, including the Russian-Armenian University, shows the importance of localization to the specifics of the country and the university», — added Inna Seledtsova.
Also speaking to the participants was the head of the department of educational policy and quality control of education at the Russian-Armenian University, Ruzanna Airapetova, who shared her experience in implementing the course and the evolution of its formats.
In a video conference format, an expert lecture was given by Yulia Alekseeva, senior lecturer at the Higher School of Design Activities and Innovation in Industry at St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, talking about working with customers for student projects and organizing interaction between teams.
As part of the training, KRSU mentors became familiar with the course ideology, studied the role of the mentor, key principles of project management and jointly developed a roadmap for course implementation. The project will be implemented with the support of SPbPU and will be an important step in the development of modern, practice-oriented education in KRSU.
