KRSU hosted a dean's meeting on educational activities and work with students
The next dean's meeting was held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, chaired by Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Marina Yurchenko. The meeting was devoted to current issues of organizing the educational process, implementing internal regulatory documents and increasing the efficiency of working with students.
One of the key topics was meeting deadlines for introducing and updating curricula.
The Vice-Rector reminded the deans of the need:
- submit curricula for discussion by faculty educational and methodological councils;
- check the structure of programs with the practices of leading Russian universities;
- have documented justifications for the structure and content of curricula.
A separate block of discussion was devoted to the financial debt of students.
Deans and curators are charged with
- actively process debtor lists;
- conduct targeted communication with students and their parents;
- pay attention even to «small» debts, which often arise due to inattention or forgetfulness.
It is noted that the task of the university is to help students get out of a difficult situation. Marina Yurchenko emphasized that communication with students and their families should be built in a partnership and caring format.
The issue of eliminating academic debt was also discussed. The vice-rector drew attention to the need for a flexible approach to accepting work: the appointment time should be convenient for students and not overlap with compulsory classes. Deans are advised to further check the appointment schedules and work of teachers with students in debt.
The head of the office provided information on incoming correspondence and citizens' requests. In general, performance discipline was assessed as good, but a number of problematic issues were noted – in particular, the need for timely preparation of interim responses to requests that require lengthy study.
The Control and Analytical Department reported on the results of an audit of the implementation of orders for the development and updating of regulations on structural divisions and job descriptions. Cases of untimely submission of documents, lack of approval signatures and originals of individual instructions were identified.
Following the discussion, a decision was made:
- streamline document flow and control deadlines;
- finalize and update documents that do not meet the requirements;
- prepare an analytical report on the execution of orders within the established time frame.
The issue of interaction with industrial partners was considered separately. Today, the faculties have more than 140 partner organizations that will be considered for cooperation.
The decision taken is to
- prepare a consolidated work plan for the career and employment center for the next year;
- include events with the participation of partners at the faculty and department levels;
- strengthen work with employers in terms of internships, internships and further employment of graduates.
The Department of Educational Programs presented a draft unified response to requests from graduates and foreign organizations to confirm curricula and basic educational programs. A format of letters and a package of attached documents based on archival data from the university have been prepared.
The issue of taking into account patents, certificates and other results of intellectual activity in the system for assessing the effectiveness of teachers and when participating in competitions was also discussed. It was confirmed that such results are taken into account in accordance with current regulatory documents and can be equated to publications under certain conditions.
The regular Dean's Meeting showed that the university continues to move towards greater transparency, manageability and focus on the needs of students, employers and the academic community.
