The International Round Table «Challenges of Modernity and Philosophy» was held at KRSU
On November 20, 2025, at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, held International Round Table «Challenges of Modernity and Philosophy», dedicated to World Philosophy Day, Science Day of Kyrgyzstan, 90th anniversary of Academician A.Ch. Kakeev and the 55th anniversary of the Rostov philosophical school.
The event was held in a mixed format simultaneously at two venues — at KRSU and the Southern Federal University (city. Rostov-on-Don). The organizers were KRSU and SFU with the participation of institutes and departments of philosophy of the two countries.
The central topic of discussion was the challenges facing modern society in the context of rapid digital transformation. Participants addressed key issues:
- the impact of information technology and the digital educational environment on modern education;
- the opportunities, threats and risks of AI deployment;
- philosophical and ethical aspects of big data development and application;
- the role of philosophy and the social sciences in shaping responses to the challenges of the new technological era;
- transformation of values, mission of education and cultural identity in the digital environment.
He delivered a welcoming speech advisor to the rector of KRSU Nikolay Kudryavtsev, stressing the strategic importance of the issues discussed:
«In recent years, philosophy has at times been overshadowed by economic and technological priorities, but it becomes obvious: a world without ideas is turning into chaos. Philosophy —this is the core on which civilization rests».
The round table included youth section and two main scientific discussion panels, in which teachers, researchers, undergraduates and students of KRSU, SFU and other universities in Russia and Kyrgyzstan took part.
Key topics in the reports include:
- digital advocacy and identity building in the AI age;
- the role of artificial intelligence in educational and social practices;
- the ethical and psychological implications of automation;
- digital identity formation and risks;
- the impact of AI on political processes, media, culture and creative industries;
- challenges to intercultural philosophy and philosophy of mind in the 21st century;
- the role of philosophy in the era of global transformations;
- new horizons of humanitarian knowledge in the context of digitalization.
Participants presented research results based on interdisciplinary methods — analysis of big data, media strategies, social practices, educational cases and learning technologies.
The International Round Table «Challenges of Modernity and Philosophy» reaffirmed the relevance of philosophy and the socio-humanities as a tool for analysis and navigation in a complex technological reality. The event was a striking example of scientific dialogue, bringing together researchers from different countries to jointly search for answers to the challenges of the 21st century.
