A presentation of the publication «Russia and Central Asia: history and culture» took place at KRSU
On December 2, the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University hosted a presentation of visual chronology «Russia and Central Asia: history and culture» — a specialized publication in «time tape» format dedicated to key events and personalities in the history of interaction between the Russian Empire and the regions of Central Asia from the middle of the 19th century to 1917.
The event took place as part of a round table organized by the Russian Center for Science and Culture (Russian House in Bishkek) and the Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage KRSU.
The presented publication visually demonstrates the dynamics of political, social and cultural processes of the pre-revolutionary era, allowing us to trace:
• administrative development of the region;
• developing infrastructure and humanitarian contacts;
• formation of a new cultural space and mutual influence.
The chronology was created under the editorship of academician Efim Pivovar and is intended for a wide range of readers — from teachers and students to researchers and those interested in the history of Eurasia.
The main presentation of the book was made by Ruslan Gagkuev, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Historical Society, who noted the importance of the format «time strip» as a modern tool for popularizing historical knowledge and strengthening intercultural dialogue.
The following issues were discussed:
• the role of historical knowledge in the formation of civic identity;
• kyrgyzstan’s place in the region’s pre-revolutionary history;
• modern demands of society for teaching history;
• the impact of humanitarian ties between Russia and Kyrgyzstan on the development of Eurasian cooperation;
• the responsibility of the media in shaping the historical picture of the world.
Speaking on behalf of the university, the director of the Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Leonid Sumarokov, emphasized the importance of returning to true historical sources and the need to continue joint projects in the field of studying the common cultural past.
He noted that such meetings make it possible to strengthen professional ties, form an objective view of history and maintain scientific dialogue between researchers of the two countries.
The presentation became a significant platform for discussing historical and cultural heritage, modern forms of popularization of knowledge and prospects for humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan.
Participants expressed interest in continuing to work together and developing educational projects aimed at strengthening trust and mutual understanding between the peoples of the region.
