A meeting with a delegation from St. Petersburg took place at KRSU
At the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, a meeting was held between the university management and a delegation from St. Petersburg led by Deputy Chairman of the Committee on External Relations Evgeniy Kassyura.
From KRSU, the meeting was attended by Vice-Rector for Legal and Economic Affairs Irina Ageeva and Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Elena Devyatova.
The parties discussed a wide range of study programs cooperation: development of interaction in the field of labor migration, transfer of buses from the government of St. Petersburg to KRSU, organization of visits of the best university students to the northern capital of Russia, as well as joint cultural projects and the creation of new public spaces in Bishkek.
Particular attention was paid to migration issues. Representatives of the Russian side spoke about new information centers and online portals that help migrants legalize, take out health insurance and find work. The management of KRSU, in turn, proposed opening Russian language courses for migrants and their children to facilitate their adaptation to Russian society.
The idea of forming a group of the best KRSU students for a trip to St. Petersburg was also discussed. The selection criteria will be academic performance, participation in competitions and activity in public life. The delegation expressed its readiness to support not only the trip, but also to provide a rich cultural program.
The landmark result of the meeting was the presentation of the project «St. Petersburg Square– of Kyrgyz Friendship», which is planned to be built opposite the main building of KRSU. The concept was presented by Yulia Rudenko, senior lecturer at the Department of Architectural Environment Design. The project includes images and symbols of St. Petersburg: the silhouette of the Neva, the Hermitage cats, a memorial to the children of war, a sculpture of Chizhik-Pyzhik and the Palace Bridge. The implementation of the initiative was supported by the Central Asia Capital fund.
The meeting participants noted that in recent years KRSU and St. Petersburg have implemented a number of successful initiatives: from the participation of Kyrgyz schoolchildren in the holiday «Scarlet Sails» to the launch of joint educational programs.
The meeting at KRSU was an important step towards further strengthening Russian-Kyrgyz friendship and opened up new prospects for cooperation in the educational, cultural and social spheres.
