A Deccan meeting was held at KRSU: the Rector outlined priorities and called for greater responsibility
A weekly dean's meeting was held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, chaired by Rector Sergei Volkov. At the meeting, key issues of the current activities of faculties and structural divisions of the university were discussed — from preparation for the heating season and repair of buildings to educational programs, academic discipline of students and work with appeals.
Sergei Volkov emphasized that the university must be as transparent as possible and promptly respond to requests from students and their parents:
«We are obliged to work strictly within the framework of regulations and eliminate the situation when students or parents are promised something orally, and then it is impossible to fulfill it. All requests must be recorded through the office so that every step is official and understandable».
One of the central topics was working with student debts and correctly organizing notifications about the risk of expulsion. The rector noted that digitalization will help solve this problem:
«It is important that the system automatically informs students about financial and academic debts. This not only disciplines, but also protects the university from claims that someone was not properly notified».
The development of additional vocational education programs was also discussed at the meeting. According to the rector, this is one of the strategic study programs of the university:
«We have launched six DPO programmes this year and we are already seeing good results. Next year we plan to increase income to 10 million soms — due to popular advanced training and retraining courses. We need to learn to work on the quality of programs so that they are truly alive and bring results».
Special attention was paid to preparations for the winter period: they discussed repairs at faculties and connecting new educational buildings to heating.
Sergei Volkov emphasized that such meetings are necessary to quickly solve problems and build a unified development strategy:
«Deccan meetings — this is not a formality, but a university management tool. We must see the real state of affairs in each unit and quickly remove bottlenecks».
Decisions and instructions made will be monitored by the rector’s office and vice-rectors in their areas.
