An interuniversity forum of translators took place at KRSU

An interuniversity forum of translators was held in Bishkek, dedicated to the memory of philologist-translation scholar E.V. Breus. The event took place at the Department of Theory and Practice of the English Language and Intercultural Communication of the Faculty of Humanities KRSU.The forum brought together students of the humanities study programs from leading universities in the capital. Representatives of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, Kyrgyz National University named after Zhusup Balasagyn, Moscow City Pedagogical University, International University of Central Asia and the Academy of Tourism took part in the work.Olga Shubina, head of the Department of Theory and Practice of the English Language and Intercultural Communication, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. She noted the importance of professional dialogue between young researchers and future translators, and also emphasized the role of scientific schools of translation studies in training specialists.During the forum, students presented reports on current issues of translation activities. The role of context in translation, problems of accuracy and equivalence, features of the transmission of cultural realities and national and cultural specifics were discussed. A separate block of speeches was devoted to the use of digital technologies and CAT tools in the training of translators.Participants also considered current areas of translation practice, including audiovisual and machine translation, as well as translation of political discourse.The interactive program included a blitz survey on the biography of E.V. Breus, a collective analysis of the translation of film fragments and a thematic game «Truth or Myth» dedicated to the key provisions of translation theory. This format allowed participants to test their knowledge and discuss practical aspects of translation work.The interuniversity forum has become a platform for professional exchange and scientific discussion between students of different universities.
